There were so many mistakes made during the first contract talks with Nylander that it’s no wonder they have set themselves
up for failure! First of all…….you don’t go out and tell the whole world that you will keep these four players together no matter what! Lol lol…..then, you let the guy sit for half the season and then overpay to sign him…….who does that? The leafs were playing some of their best hockey at that time, without him! They should have let him sit……the Steve Yzerman way! Lol lol …….Then they went out and over payed for Tavares! They set themselves up for all of this nonsense! You can’t win a Stanley cup when four players take up half of the salary cap! It severely restricts what you can do with the rest of the team! That’s why they always seem to be a really good team…….but not elite…….it can’t be done!
Justin Holl was at fault for Columbus goals 1,2,4. All 3 times it was his guy he failed to tie up. Joseph Woll was on at fault for goal 3. Should've got his glove on it, however I thought he played a great game despite bad Defense in front him.

i am not a leafs fan, but come on people, its start at the top, dunas, the coach and a team without a defence, everyone is talking about muzzin you think he is the saviour, and i still say why does the leaf coach like samsonov, this guy played his heart out the night before, and the next thin he is on the bench, something wrong with this picture in leafs land, the bruins let cassidy go because debrusk wanted out of boston, the coach went first, in my opinion, the coach has to go, this is not a good sign.

It seems the greatest weakness of the Leafs is a poor defence. They are too slow to anticipate, they are too interested in checking instead of concentrating on the puck, they should never have two Leafs going after an opponent in the corner while leaving another opponent open, they lack discipline, quick thinking and anticipation. As for the offence, never shoot the puck directly at the goalie. What's the point of that? Until they thoroughly develop these skills, they will never win the Stanley Cup. As for the league, how often do you see goalie's poke-check? Intercept a puck in their crease? Or dive on a loose puck? Half the time they don't seem to know where the puck is. I realize it's an extremely fast game, that's why anticipation should priority number 1.

Have been a leafs fan since 1970. Simply put Toronto has not had a top D-Man for over 40 years. They do not possess one now. The leafs as they are constructed now are better prepared for Ice Capes than the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
