  1. I think Karlsson could have went to either one of my 2 teams, Chicago or Vancouver. Either team can really have a solid scoring defenseman like him! The Oilers already have their solid lineup. I also think the Sharks didn't have to trade him away because he is a good two-play, Doug Gilmour type player. Anyway, I'm just trying to see things from all angles of the spectrum. At the end of the day, the Oilers are lucky to have him.

  2. Lol… Nurse? Overpaid, overrated Nurse you mean?! Right…

This video is cute. Karlsson to Edmonton lol. Basically impossible.

  3. Connor and Leon played a lot with him at all star. I think they told Holland he’s the guy they want.

  4. People who are saying it can happen If they retain salary or even a 3way trade to make another team retain and offering a 1st lmao dude he's got 5 years left! You really think a team wants to pay 3-5 mil a season for 5 seasons? That's ridiculous lol

  5. Edmonton is right up against the cap so it's going to take a lot of creative accounting to make this work. Even San Jose retaining 50% that's still almost $6M in cap space needed.

  6. I think he stays…….I think he'll be a great leader for our future prospects…i hope he stays anyways.

  7. Love this. And honestly they should go all in and snag Kane if they can get salary retained for picks.. you have McDavid, it’s now or never 🏆

  8. it would be intreseting but the oilers would have to give up some young players like bouchard and they have to give away salary as they are close to the cap

  9. It's definitely confirmed he's leaving the sharks. They stripped his "A" off tonight

  10. Wpg!!!! A trade for Demelo and a 1st and a 2nd. Sharks retain half salary. Leaves room for Jets to trade for a solid winger…..

  11. I can’t imagine trading him in the Conference, let alone our own Division, but I digress I’m no manager that’s why I’m sitting on my couch

  12. D E F E N S E wins championships…some people must be new to this stuff. 🤤

  13. How the hell does Karlsson's contract fit? No chance in hell he is going to Edmonton, keep dreaming.

  14. Man, the biggest issue with Edmonton taking on Karlsson is how to fit his salary. He's still going to have a caphit of 11.5 mil for 4 more seasons after this one. Right now the Oilers have 9 mil in cap space to work with. So after this year, its possible to work with that. I feel like this would have to mean Puljujarvi is out, who is up for contract this year, but that's probably ok as he doesn't seem particularly vital to the team. But it could make any other deals significantly tighter to deal with. And while you could easily get rid of Puljujarvi, Edmonton's back-up goalie is already signed for an extra 2 mil next season, kind of undoing that. So they'd still need to find cap space elsewhere.

Further, I'd be concerned about a 32 year old defenseman suddenly becoming way better than he was the previous 5 seasons. I love Karlsson and hope this continues for him, but man, I don't know if I'd be willing to take that gamble.

Further, I feel like defensemen being moved at the deadline are MUCH harder to fit with a new team. I've never done an in depth study and this might just be some classic observer effect, but I swear any time a big d-man is moved at the deadline, it doesn't really work out nearly as often as when the big forward is on a new team. My hypothesis is that it takes time for a d-man to better understand the nuances of a system and d-partner compared to what a forward has to contend with. That these things are easier to learn with a full training camp, preseason, etc.

  15. Stop guessing the trade until it happens. When there is a trade please tell us, speculations are not facts.

  16. I think you need to look up the word "officially" in the ol' thesaurus mate.

  17. "Officially"? ". . . is going to be going to…."? "This deal is going to work out perfectly."? I must have missed some news reports. 😉

  18. The Oilers don't have the cap space. Unless the Sharks retain 4M+ of his salary and there's no way that happens.

  19. I would be happy to see him go honestly…mostly cause he is a generational talent, and he should be doing what he does right now in a team with Stanley Cup ambition…Sharks are clearly tanking, rightfully so the trade would be a fair deal for everybody involved.
Hope injuries don't get him this time

  20. as a sens fan i would love to see karlsson join the oilers..
he deserves to go somewhere where he will thrive and be in the playoff hunt..
there's also a chance sens make the playoffs so could be an interesting post season

  21. IF this move brings the cup home then it’s worth it, but this move will end the Oilers roster and McDavids tenure with an unsustainable cap situation. Karlsson will never live up to his contract as the years go on.

I’d rather Chychrun or Schenn, steady hands Holland!

  22. Karlsson is having a great year, but look at the last 4. This guy is a defensive liability, which is the last thing the oilers need. They don't need MORE offense, they need better defense.

  23. Your title is a bit misleading. Maybe the deal will happen for the reasons you suggest and I hope it does but there's nothing 'official' yet.

  24. The fans know better, we do not need Karlsson. There is a better option out there. He certainly isn't worth more than Tarasenkos take.

  25. IF, lmfao lmfao, can have the best defense but it's still a Canadian team. Lmao lmao we know cups never go to Canadian teams. Lmfao lmfao lmfao I can't stop laughing at these things.
