    I think a healthy Bert has been good for larkins game and I would like both to stay. I'm with steve and think 8 mil is a fair offer but if larkin can finish out the season this way or if we make playoffs I think y will give him something closer to what he wants. On a roll rn lgrw

    I think Larkin heard some of the fans saying he can't carry the team and he's not worth 9 million a year.

    Get him signed, I think 8 years/71 mil is what it's going to end up being. Years it's more than Stevie would like, but come on he's carrying the whole team on his back. Not just with the points, but also with his leadership, he has become a true 2 way center, get him signed.

    Learn from Bergeron, a PROVEN WINNER, a TRUE FIRST LINE CENTER, who isn't too proud to take a home-town discount to help GET and KEEP the right guys around him, to WIN cups. Probably going to get another this year. Ask yourself if cups r worth giving up a few mil Larks. Your already set FOR LIFE either way. 4 at 8 , then renegotiate sooner when you've DONE the dang thing! If you can. I'd hate to see him go away for sure. But is he worth 9? Look around the NHL. I HOPE I'm proven wrong.

    Splitt the difference and get it done. Another thought. Can you lock part of the salary into playoff bonus’s. For example, 8.5 million in salary. Another .5 million in playoff bonuses. Divided into one quarter for each round reached in each given year. Now that would be a serious incentive to make and stay in the playoffs.

    IF he wants >$9M so he'd damn well better catch fire 5-6 times per year. If he stays in Detroit he could be the John Elway of Michigan after retirement with broadcasting, coaching and business opportunities up the wazoo. Detroit loves its heroes and Gordie, Lindsey, Delvecchio and Redmond never had to buy a dinner or drink the rest of their lives. If he analyzes LONG TERM upside, he'll make that million up in spades by being the local boy who led them back to playoff glory after the Blasshill era. Ask Ozzie and The Mick.

    Horvat gets 8.5m, Barzal got over 9. I think 8.75 or maybe a bit closer to 9m is valid for Larkin. Pay our captain Stevie.

    Make playoffs and he’ll get close to 9. I like Larks but he’s only been a 7mil player so far. If he was on another team with stars that produce more he’d only be at 4-5Mil it’s just that Detroit doesn’t have any high elite 50 goal scorer

    He most likely realizes hitting the open UFA market, it will be a max payload of cash for him. Many teams will compete for him.
    Historically his contract(s) with Detroit were seen as very affordable and friendly for the Red Wings salary cap.
