Ugly ugly game. When they clicked in the zone they scored unfortunately they didn’t do nearly enough of that. Once again Saros carries the team.

It’s a good thing there is a long road trip ahead, I don’t think fans are happy about Feb hockey.
At this point I’m not entirely convinced we NEED to do a full tear down. I think we missed that window. The move was trade Ekholm and Forsberg before they were re-signed. Now we’re a few years away from being able to move these core pieces and anything we can do (Fabbro, maybe Trenin and Jeannot) doesn’t really impact our rebuild or playoff window in meaningful ways. That window REALLY opens up next year or 24-25 when Nino, Joey, Granlund, and Cole Smith all approach UFA status.
I honestly think that on paper this team is good. Forsberg, Duchene, Josi, Elkhom, Saros. That’s a pretty solid core.
The issue is our coaching and roster management. We just play a forecheck heavy, dump and chase game that doesn’t reward creativity. Hynes needs to go and replaced with someone who rewards skill and speedy, creative play.
I’m probably wrong about that but that’s the best I can do as to why we won’t tear it down this year.

TANK WATCH:
Vancouver over Preds – **NO** – Preds with 2 points, Vancouver’s loser point does not help the Preds. Preds still have a shot at the playoffs.
Caps OTW against Detroit – **NO** – Detroit wins outright, Washington retains a higher draft spot.
Oilers over Philly – **UNDECIDED** – Need Oilers to win to retain the top wild card spot.
Minnesota over LA – **YES** – Minny owns the 2nd wild card spot. Preds down to a 9.7% chance to make the playoffs.
Why was Tomasino ever sent down? That goal was a beaut
Also Cole Smith finally misses the goalie. He’s starting to have McCarron level production finally.
