If this is the divisions, then each team in a division plays the other 5 teams 5 times each for 25. They play the other divisions in their conference 3 times for 36 (12×3). And they play each team in the opposite conference just once, for 18 games. 25+36+18= a 79 game season.

Top 3 teams in each division makes playoffs. Playoffs get reseeded 1 to 9 in each conference. Bottom 2 teams play each other in essentially wildcard series while 1st place team gets a bye. 1st team plays winner of wildcard. 2nd plays 7th, 3rd plays 6th, and 4th place plays 5th place in each conference.

Also NHL has a three point system.

Less games against opposite conference teams means less travel. That combined with less games in a season and more games against divisional rivals means healthier players playing more meaningful games with more rivalries, because everyone is essentially fighting for their playoff lives game 1

Detroit is not going back west, pick someone else

Hey! I’ve seen that Stags logo before. :/

    😀

  4. GardenTop7253

What did the Av’s logo ever do to you??

That aside, this looks pretty good and makes more sense than anything I’d try to make

Who the fuck are the Miami panthers

  6. No Hartford? Not a real list. Try again

  7. staefrostae

There’s 32 teams currently in the league. You added 5- the bastions, aeros, stags, nordiques and thrashers. Somehow you ended with 36 teams. Who got cut?

    It’s Arizona

Why are the red wings in a division that is clearly western.

Why are they not in the same division as the leafs when Detroit is less than a 5 hour drive from Toronto?

Why not put buffalo, or Toronto in the west if you’re gonna throw the wings in there. What was the thought process behind this?

  9. The Miami Panthers…

    I’m absolutely furious

As a Red Wing fan I NEVER want to go back to having in-division games out of the Eastern time zone

I like it, but I can’t imagine Boston would like being in a division with 4 Canadian teams

No way in hell anywhere in Saskatchewan gets a team. There isn’t a city with more than 265k people in it. The province is basically one big farm.

  13. Would love Saskatchewan to get a team but it would never happen.

  14. johannesBrost1337

I have such a hard time understanding why the NHL needs to expand to more teams at all. Unless we are going open division like in europe where you get relegated, Which could be cool but yeah, I suppose 32 teams seem very sufficient. I’m just rambling at this point I suppose.

  15. Waffles_Remix

Why don’t the Knights, Kings, and Bastions just get the medieval division?

  16. chickenslacksguy

Please do not put TX teams in a conference with western teams. I don’t want to start watching games at 9:30PM.

  17. soupdejour4

Thank you for giving Sask a team. It made my day

  18. jerrybear95

Where in Saskatchewan? I think Portland would make a better market.

  19. Scissors4215

Saskatchewan Stags? Hahahah. Phoenix has better odds of getting a 2nd team.

  20. Particular_Gur7378

Hartford makes more sense then saskatoon in my opinion. Love saskatchewan but still

I don’t have the words to describe how much I hate this. It’s gotta be a troll.

  22. CousinJimmy46

Yes! Bring back the old conference and division names.

I’m partial to « The Saskatchewan Sasquatch »
