@Islanders de New York

  1. If you like these goals, enjoy them while you can. This while be against the rules before long. It'll only take one stick to the throat or through the eye hole in the mask and it'll be done.

  2. I mean I can't do it. But the way he picked up the puck isn't impressive to me at all. Still cool and love to see it

  3. On top of it being an unbelievable skill level to pull off, I am surprised that the defender had the brains to realize what was going on that fast, and almost blocked it with a chop of his stick.

  4. Back when I was still playing in house/rec leagues, I had two guys on my team who could do the Michigan. They were so good at scoring with it, the league banned everyone from doing it because they were scoring at least once or twice a game with it. My team was averaging almost 8 goals a game while this was going on.
I really hope the NHL doesn't ban this move like my league did.

  5. Not the best but awesome goal! Zegras shot between the legs gathers rebound circles the net and ends with Michigan at top speed!

  6. “I’d like to see Bedard in a bigger market.”

Last night’s game sold out at Nationwide despite Columbus being dead last in the league. What would be wrong with him going to the Jackets?

  7. If the stick hits the goalie in the mask or neck area, it should be a penalty and no goal.

  8. It is one of the most difficult shots in the game, and anyone who thinks its bad for the game is just stupid. It is cool to see it whenever it happens, and its just part of the natural progression of skill. The longer the game is around the more tricks people will learn, and this isn't the last crazy thing we are going to see.

  9. So I need some clarification on the stick above the net rule. If you watch closely his stick is raised above the crossbar. Only the blade tip is below it or it’s pretty close. Should this goal have been ruled no goal?

  10. notice you don't see many players from contending teams trying these moves aside for Svechnikov (sp???)

  11. The faster the average speed and quickness of the players get, and the more estute goalies and defenders get, the less often the Michigan will be attempted. However, it's probably here to stay. Every player in the NHL will have it in their skill repertoire but the likes of Jay Beagle will be told to only try it in practice. Skill for dazzling works only if you're better than your opponent. Basic skills at a high level keep you in the league while a rough physical game gives you an edge or is an equalizer in a case of a slight disparity in skill.

  12. the hawks are finishing last theres nobody on the hawks that would be a first line guy on any team in the league besides maybe another rebuilding team the only guy that might be on the team in 5 years is Lukas Reichel😂

  13. Matthew Tkachuk tried one in his first game against the bruins this season, he wants one too

  14. Bro this one doesn't even compare to Trevor Zegras doing it around Sonny Milano against Arizona. Plus, Zegras was faster and smoother doing it each time. This is badass, but Z has done it 3 times with one being called back for offsides. Z takes the W.

  15. Still the Granlund one against Russia in 2011 is by far the best one.

  16. That's not a Michigan. It's a Lacrosse. A Michigan is pressing down on puck. Lacrosse is scooping it up. Get it right.

  17. If the players stick makes contact with the goalies head or upper body at all, this should be a penalty for high sticking.

  18. Why would you want to see him go to a bigger market? Columbus is last in the league and already stays competitive with attendance already, you'd have a lot of people suddenly become Columbus fans as soon as they are competitive, let alone if they get Bedard. A winning Columbus team gets almost all of Ohio, half of west Virginia, the southwestern part of Virginia, most of Kentucky and maybe even Indiana/parts of Michigan, pretty big market tbh

  19. Hoglander in the Swedish league is the best one. Banks it off the back off the back of the net and actually SCOOPS the puck up like Mike Legg did, and scores in one fluent motion. The whole play happens in like .1 of a second. Fuckin soooo nasty

  20. This is high sticking to me. The shaft is above the bar when the puck goes in. Don’t care what the ruling is, to me that should be high stick.

  21. Id prefer if it was an illegal move.

You see in the allstar games players doing a similar move just carrying the puck from center to the back of the net. Its not difficult for these players to carry the puck like that.

It just looks like a way to cheat the system.

  22. Wayno keeps saying he doesn’t understand why goalie don’t just stay standing against the post cause goalies keep getting exposed in that position

  23. I think this had potential for coaches challenge (for high stick). The heel of the blade was above the crossbar.
I think the move is creative, but I also think that if the player makes contact with the goalie's head, it should be called no-goal and assessed a high sticking penalty.
The flashiness of the move has memorized fans and refs into forgetting the basic rules of the game.
