Watching him in the early days of the Canes days in Raleigh was a treat. The little Latvian made some huge saves in the 2002 playoff run. I loved his standup style and how much ground he would cover from side to side, stacking the pads to make a stop. Irbe made 50 saves in triple overtime game 3, but couldn’t stop Larionov’s game winning goal. In the end, the stacked Red Wings and Hasek were pretty much unstoppable. The Hurricanes were outscored in the finals 14 to 7.

Never forget that homie, boy looked like he dumpster dove behind a play it again sports and drove straight to the rink but he was pretty solid
