Ughhhh I absolutely hate the pirates and all their owner stands for. Greedy money hungry loser that has to give away tickets and free stuff just to get any people to come to the games. I actually like baseball but I told myself I would never support the team until they actually showed that they are willing to try to win. I am 32 years old and the Pirates have been rebuilding. Basically my whole life, so yes, it’s very disappointing. I have more faith in the old washed up Penguins. Lol
All it took was hiring a former flyer to run a rivals operations.
I understand you mentioning sid and i agree, he could've done more off the ice to help the team by addressing their bottom 6, but ultimately I just feel bad for him, Geno, and Tanger. each one of them gave their all on the ice expecting this to be one of their last few shots at 4 cups and now their year is wasted because a bottom six that couldn't make an impact. the core deserved better
The ownership will only feel compelled make changes if, and only if, fans stop buying season tickets, merch, etc. But will fans actually do that? Doubt it. Have fans stopped buying in with the NHL with the clown show commissioner that is Gary Bettman? Nope (and I am not exempt). I certainly agree that the GM is the most to blame in how the team is structured. However, I also have heard it said that every coach has a shelf life. Even good, even great coaches can and should be fired once a team stops buying whatever it is a given coach is selling. I sensed Sullivan hit his expiration date even a few seasons ago with the 1st round exits. It doesn't seem fair or even rational but much of player performance in sports depends on psychological and team culture factors that are not entirely quantifiable.

But these penguins are truly heartbreaking disappointments I knew it a couple months ago when I was talking about they have won it so many times it’s no longer a big deal to them. I know you said it they care, but their actions speak differently you point out the third and fourth line, well deserved but what about the atrocious goaltending no thought about replacing that the most important player on a hockey team but whatever here we go Steelers here we go let’s go Pirates let’s go Pirates
Brian Burke was too busy berating players from other teams for not wanting to participate in pride night warm-ups than to berate his own players for their actual performance on the ice.
For the first time in my life, I'll see the Penguins try to build a team in a more "conventional" sense, instead of drafting a generational talent and building around him.
How about adding DK to the list? The media has provided a lot of cover for a lot of the mistakes the past several years. How about apologizing for mocking those who diagnosed the issues you now point to many moons before?

Well this isn’t how I wanted it to be. Guess I’ll pull for some other team with young players like the leafs or Oilers during the cup run to see a new group of young players get their chance.

If we can find a million Penguins fans and each have them pitch in $1k, maybe we can buy the Penguins back from FSG. Maybe we call it….Pittsburgh Sports Group. Then if we’re successful enough we can buy the Bucs too.

Dk how do fans support the players the team but boycott management??? Could not imagine The Patriots owners having a majority of the Steelers and still doing what's best for the Steelers. I did not know about the land grab or never put real thought into it. Summer should not start this early and no pens hockey till at least the end of May means no spring just look at the weather.
I can honestly tell you that, Here in Boston, Nobody Cares about the Pittsburgh Hockey Team !
The penguins main weakness is not their 3rd and 4th lines. Its their absolute abysmal Swiss cheese defense and ahl goaltending. Add coaching to that with their million blown 2 and 3 goal leads
It's going to be a long painful stretch for PP fans. Too many hungry up and comers in the East for Pitt to keep up, good luck…
Player evaluation. Maybe it’s so obvious to not even be an insight, but I keep coming back to poor player/talent evaluation. From Burke, Hextall, and Sullivan. It’s why it took O’Connor so long to get any ice time, and still less than he probably deserves. It’s why they got Granlund. It’s why Nylander just barely got an opportunity. It’s why Puustinen isn’t even allowed to get a shot. It’s why Carter, Dumo, and whoever else we’re guaranteed a spot. This management team just can’t identify who can help and who’s actively hurting the team.
To let this group continue onward—with free agency and the draft—after these results, would be madness. But until something happens, and heads roll, I’m afraid that’s exactly what we’re going to get.
