Finishing last isn't so much about having the highest possible chances for Bedard (though obviously that's a net positive).
It's about guaranteeing a floor. A guaranteed top 4 picks is one of Bedard, Fantili, Carlsson and Mitchkov. They are all INSANE prospects this year specifically.
They need whatever it takes to get Bedard. Their last few trades especially with the Devils seems very underwhelming.
What you failing to understand here is finishing last means the worst you pick IN EVERY ROUND is third. Yes you can get the first, but you can only be pushed back two spots. This sets you place in every round. If pushed back to second that is Fantilli, at third it is Karlsson or a host of others. It is not ALL ABOUT Bedard. It IS about setting yourself up in each round in this ultra deep draft.
The sad thing Gary is gonna rig his balls so either the Blackhawk or the Coyotes get the number one. Rumours are Bettman has all but promised it to the people in Arizona to insure a new stadium is built. He put his thumb on the scale for Vegas now it is the Coyotes turn.
In this draft the hope is that lotto win and select first, however, "tank hard for Bedard" is about putting this team in a top 3 draft spot. That top 3 after Bedard all seem to be franchise changers. That's where the team wants to be. Having extra picks later in this first round should really help fill the pool with some good Barracuda.
We have our pick and are the only team without 20 wins….so yes we absolutely CAN tank for Bedard
I still don't see us getting Bedard as the way I see it is whoever wins the draft lottery gets him which I think for us is a long shot
You sound like a politician right now lol. Of course there’s tanking. Of course the coaches know. Of course the players know. You think players don’t see what’s happening and continue to play their best game? You think Hertl isn’t taking it easy? Cmon…Also, tanking isn’t always about 1oa Brodie. You know that. This draft is deep.
How are you a professional commentator and not realize this isn’t just for Bedard?! Last place ensures you a pick in the top 3 in a draft class that is absolutely stacked! SMH 🤦🏻♂️
BEDARD BEDARD BEDARD BEDARD
San Jose sharks are the worst team in the league. They’re a laughingstock they will never get Connor Bernard.
If we finish last and still not get Bedard a very good prize is either Carlson or Fantyli 👍👍
Yea, don't tank for better odds and guaranteed top 3 pick 🙃. L take.
Good video 👍👍👍this is exactly what I think

Yeah the odds for a rebuilding a NHL team is not so great, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprise if the Blackhawks win the draft lottery. Original six teams, and an established Stanley cup-winning team seems to get the upper hand. I mean, Brodie? How many times did the Edmonton Oilers get the first overall pick to finally land a player like McDavid? The odds were great for them for years!! Whatever happens, I'll end up disappointed.
Stop kidding they are tanking !
But 100% to get a top 3 pick in a stacked draft.
I think it has to be on the mind of Grier to do what he can to increase the likelihood of getting Bedard. Look over the last two years and how can you honestly say the organization has been focused on putting the best team on the ice with the subtractions made? Personally I think the Sharks have seen this draft coming and has positioned itself to get the best draft picks possible. The focus is building for the future and not right now-as it should be. I can’t see how that’s NOT “tanking” to some extent.
it is totally worth doubling your chances of getting Beddard…yes there isnt a guarantee but missing out on Connor pretty much guarantees you at least one more ugly season…id prefer to see tanking now than years of of more ugliness
Not tank😆 News flash Brodie, the Sharks absolutely suck, they’e tanking regardless. Sharks can only fall two spots from the #1 spot and at #3 they can get Michkov or Carlsson who can be cornerstone pieces for the org. Got to do you your homework my boy. Tank is on for this year and next, this team is awful and need blue chips in the pipeline.
so what happens if bedard doesn’t declare for this year’s draft?
Tanking works…..trust the process
What else do we have to hope for from this season other than better odds at Bedard and a guaranteed great player with a top 3 pick? If we are going to be bad, it is ideal to be the worst.
25% is huge! We need to suck now for the future.
Upside of tanking: double your chances of getting a generational talent who could change the fortunes of the franchise for years to come and possibly lead to multiple Stanley Cups.
Downside of tanking: (help me out here)
If you don't buy a ticket, you'll never win the lottery, Brodie.
Absolutely they MUST tank for Bedard, because if they do manage to come in last, and someone else wins the lottery, their consolation prize is Fantilli.
Isn’t 25.5% much better than 10% tho…? Also it ensures that your team doesn’t draft worse than 2nd
3:18 My hot take with this one is that Bedard is gonna be the next McDavid in that he will spend his entire career with a garbage team posting 100+ point seasons and never making it out of the first round XD
The kid might be a prodigy but nobody short of God is gonna be able to carry an underperforming team straight to a Cup win, his talent is gonna be wasted until he gets traded to somebody who has a chance
everyone knows you're not guaranteed to get the #1 even if last place, BUT you will get the highest chance to get the #1 pick, so Tanking is still very much viable. Why would anyone take 10% chance over 25% chance for the #1 pick??? sure it's not 100%, but 25% chance is more than DOUBLE the chance of 10%, so why wouldn't tanking make sense?
The 🦈 want a stud Centre. Any of those players end up going to SJ, big difference for the future.
