  1. If it looks like Lavoie won't make the final roster before the end of the preseason, the Oilers could look to trade him for a late round draft pick so they don't risk losing him for nothing. If another team shows interest. With the likes of Phil Kessel, Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, and many other players 35+ years old looking at possible retirement, some teams may be looking at Lavoie and want to add him as a depth piece or someone they can call up in the event that injuries begin piling up. Same with Bourgeault.

  2. Brad Malone I think is better off finishing out his career in the minors unless another team wants him as a bottom 6 veteran. Seth Griffith and Greg McKegg deserve one more crack to make the NHL roster, but I think only one of those guys actually gets a roster spot to fill out the bottom 6 if the Oilers decide to do that instead of acquiring another player or signing an ageing free agent. Another forward that could make the roster is Carl Berglund. As for defence, I think it's down to either Neimelainen or Cam Dineen if Ceci does get traded.

  3. Patrick why do you think being waiver exempt is a negative thing? I think that’s much more desirable when looking to develop talent. Get someone up for 10 games, send them down, next year get them up for another 10 games. I think because of Holloway having such a diverse experience this year he could end up doing really well next year but this is only possible with a waivers exempt player no?
