I’ve been saying I don’t see Kings going after Hellebuyck or other top goalie this off-season
Especially silly If Hellebuyck wants $9M+ on a new deal, give me PLD at $7-$8M extended with a Brossoit esque goalie signed instead for next season
WhatWouldMuirDo
Would still love to see us take a swing at Karel Vejmelka. I know the asking price from Phoenix was pretty high last year but he could potentially round out into a career starter with LA.

I’m down with Brossoit

If Hellebuyck was a few years younger, I’d be all on board to swing for the stars and give up assets for his services + big extension. But 9M+/year for a 30 yr old is a big no.
Copley + another 1B level goalie to split games >>> the Quick + Cal duo we had last season anyways, and we were still in a playoff position pretty much the whole season.
We should be more defensively sound too with Gavrikov playing the whole season, and not having to deal with Edler/Walker/Durzi.

Id trade for Vladar

We have something like $2 mil in cap space, it’s gonna be a budget goalie unless iafallo/arvy get traded, and even then is it worth losing them for a goalie
HumanByProxy
I’d rather not go with the goalie who has an injury history.
Our depth is shallow as it has ever been.

If I were going to bet on it, I’d say Tristan Jarry is going to be the 1A in a goalie tandem with Pheonix Copley next season. He’s a UFA and won’t ask for too much, and he has a very strong relationship with our new goaltending coach.
There is currently $7.3 mil available in cap space. I expect announcements soon that Vilardi (~$3 mil) and Kupari (~$1 mil) have signed new bridge deals, and shortly after they’ll make an announcement that Jarry has been signed for whatever amount is left over ($3.3 mil) which is around what he was making in Pittsburg and will likely take short term since not many teams are begging for him and the already established relationships that LA is offering.
There may still be some trades this Summer involving Arvy and Iaffalo, but these other moves need to be made first.

With the PLD talk getting louder I think they go with a cheaper goalie

Rather have Villalta. Get him some experience.
Kings need alot more then another goalie. They need to get bigger .
If Kopi retires, maybe we can get 2 big guys at 5mil apiece.
Then we can get past Edm

Going dumpster diving in net is exactly how we end up as 1st round fodder again next year. The Kings are not Vegas. We can’t roll with 2 quasi 1B starters in net and expect Brossoit/Hill results behind our D corps. We absolutely need a goalie who can steal a series, maybe two, if we’re gonna be contenders.
Really since we’re all-in on the 8/11 window anyway Blake should be trying to get PLD *and* Hellebuyck, and paying the required amount of extra assets to get enough cap retention to make them fit.

Genuine question from an outsider (who just likes hockey) why not Villata or Portillo? They both seem to have decent upside.
Zanchbot
Well they’ve gotta do *something* in net. This team won’t win a cup with Copley + 1B. If Hellebuyck isn’t the answer, maybe circle back around on Vejmelka, or throw a bunch of assets and picks at Saros.

I was just skimming and saw Vasy’s name and my heart stopped

What about Demko? I wouldn’t mind him, especially if we can move Durzi in the process, he was absolutely nuts in the Vegas series a few years back,
cyclingnutla
Sign Tristan Jarry, play him for 50/55 games and Copley the rest. This will allow Jarry to stay healthy and keep Copley sharp

I worry more about the $33+ million the Kings owe Doughty over the next 3 seasons. There were times in the playoffs against the Oilers where he did not look good.

You guys are just way too high on copley
GBBL
Just feel like this makes Saros the better trade if we can swing it
