Either Avs fleeced Preds or Johansen is so bad that Avs shouldn’t put him in 2C. Either way, recent cup winner with MacKinnon and Makar in prime shouldn’t be looking for scraps for free. Sakic should have gone after Lindholm and Avs would have been instant favourites for next cup
MrSCR23
His contract wasn’t great so I wasn’t expecting the Avs to give up a lot for him. Yet the guy they’re sending in return is a UFA on July 1st.
Wonder if Nashville is heading for a rebuild, and regardless of that question is Duchene is next?
Chidorii303
Traded a player that had maybe 50 points in the AHL for someone that averaged .5 per game in the NHL with half a cap retainer on a shit team at that. This is textbook fleece
BisonPersonal3770
Almost has to be something that we don’t know going on. Ryan is no gamebreaker but a solid player to get at 4 mill a year (preds retaining half) plus with the rest of the avs skill to help him, Why not make this move for a FA ahler? If healthy could be 60-70 point player
New_Nebula_8447
I don’t see Galchenyuk being a regular roster player anywhere unless the Preds coach him into it and it works out for both teams. It just seems like the Avs are preparing to possibly replace Compher if they can’t resign him.
But right now, this certainly does look like a fleece.
midnightrambler108
They fleeced each other.
HolyMeowzah
Nashville going full rebuild? I wouldn’t take Galchenyuk as a FA, very weird take. Pick or prospect sure, but a bottom 6 meh winger?
lalojenkins
Trotz did not want Johansen. He’s not going to keep Galchenyuk either.
Tiger5804
No, Nashville traded fo cap space, not Galchenyuk
cote112
Let’s get nuts
Freedom_prime72
No. Nashville just gained needed cap space for a better free agent player
DrSeuss19
This trade makes no fuckin sense on the value side.
McJoe77
Johansen is cooked he has this year and next at 4 million since nashville is eating half. This is a full dump.

Always liked johansson hes gonna tear it up w col
JayJay1227
Habs legend Alex Galchenyuk
JERRYBOIZ
Not really they helped Nashville cap tho
Adept-Offer-2315
Hey now, the Avs are still giving the Preds a run!
MichealangeloRetardo
Na ones just a lot worse than the other but they both suck
shanster925
Easy way to open up $4m of cap space. Galchenyuk is a UFA
scwalls
As a Preds fan, I’m happy to see half the contract off the books.
He’s still gotta come back from the foot injury. Best days are behind him, but Colorado is a great place to land.
Best of luck, Joey.
slow_joke
Good salary dump for Nashville.
The_G_89
It’s a Lose-Lose for both teams. Johansen is an absolute Drama King. Colorado could’ve gotten someone that is way better.

Did you even look up RJ on hockey reference or are you just making this post based on name alone and nothing else?
Dude had 28 points in 55 games last year. He’s barely a replacement level third liner and has an **8 million dollar cap hit** (yes I know Nashville retained). $4M for 30 points is still pretty shit.
makalder
No way, Galchenyuk is great, he just hasn’t found the right fit yet /s
Olipod2002
That’s a cap hit trade, so no it’s not a fleece. Johansen is overpaid
harlequin018
Johansen has a bad contract, at $8mm for the next two seasons, but that’s paid for by Landeskog’s LTIR (Preds eat half, so he’s costing 4 to the Avs). He plays on MacKinnon, Rantanen line and provides a little insurance for the season after in case Landeskog is unable to come back. Avs get a top 6 player without giving up an asset, Preds get sorely needed cap relief and Johansen gets to rebuild his value on one of the top lines in hockey. Everybody wins.
