L’Avalanche du Colorado a fait tourner les têtes mardi après-midi lorsqu’il a distribué Alex Newhook aux Canadiens de Montréal pour deux choix au repêchage et le défenseur Gianni Fairbrother. Les choix qui reviennent à l’Avalanche sont les 31e et 37e au repêchage de cette année. L’Avalanche est donc passée d’un seul choix au cours des quatre premières rondes à trois choix sur 10.     I find it very hard to believe that they don't use these assets in a trade, cuz using all those picks in the draft don't really line up with the Avs current window. On top of this, our center depth is currently MacKinnon, Johansen, and Meyers, so theres gunna be some kind of trade and/or FA signing.

    There is something else in the works for those three picks for sure. How many deals will it be? Who knows, but with that kind of draft capital on draft day they can make things happen. I am not insinuating that this is a name being targeted, but rather the level of player they might target – say they put a package of some or all of those picks and grab a guy like Troy Terry on a sign and trade deal? That is the level of move that I think they are likely preparing for tomorrow (and working on tonight).

    You're right, its a fear of a Jost 2.0 again, especially when it comes to a contender. I don't like that Newhook gone, but as a contender there's is always results that needs to met and playing further down line based on those results, you might see a 4th round trade in 2yrs time. As for the Habs, he is going to be allowed to make mistakes and grow with better offensive linematea, in which he couldn't crack with Avs. These picks would give the Avs the flexibility to address some needs with desperate clubs will to get out contracts. The flame and cancucks are example of teams will to do just that. This flexibility will give Avs a chance to seek an upgrade that Newhook wouldn't match in may be 2 or 3 years.     Trade Girard while he still has term and his NTC hasn't kicked in. You could get a good return for him and not miss much on the back end. If they don't get more picks tomorrow and don't trade away what they have, I hope they come away with two of Musty, Ritchie, Stramel or Halttunen. Get some more big bodies to develop.

    As a Newy fan it sucks to see him go but it will be cool to see him get a legit shot at a top 6 spot where he doesn't have the pressure of a contender.
