Excellent report–I'm still hoping the Senators find a way to sign Vlad Tarasenko, but, the Canes could use his scoring touch, for sure. Plus he would be a welcome addition to any teams' Power Play.

Leafs fans need to realize that they won't get much back from Nylander. Toronto is -8.8 Million in cap debt. If they resign Samsonov to 3M aav, trade Murray and Nylander, they will break even, not possible to get anything significant from Nylander…
I hope the Ducks keep Gibson but if they do trade him with all the cap space they have I am sure he would bring in a haul of players that I would imagine will speed up their rebuild and maybe they can sign Freddy Anderson as a free agent to replace him lol ex Duck

If Karlsson plays the next season like he did this season he’s worth the 11.5 Million contract without the sharks retaining any salary. GM’s know this, and they should free up some cap space to get him. ASAP!!
Nylanders current AAV is actually $7.5m, $6.96m is the prorated amount because he signed 2 months late at the time.
The nylander situation is so stressful..just because of his attitude putting money before the teams needs would be enough for a trade imo especially when brad triveliving just went through this with tchuck and geudreu..if Calgary is on nylanders trade list trade him for hanifin++
Love watching the fruitless scrambling to sign aging players in Pittsburgh. Their window is closed. Old core and awful tandem in net and all of this asset mismanagement will bury them for decades.

What about an Ottawa Winnipeg trade Debrincat for Nino Neidereiter.And what about Jack Cambell for Hellbuyk with an Edmonton pick thrown in.

Crosby signed for 8.7, Malkin and Letang for 6.1, Guentzel for 6 flat. THATS how you win a cup, not enough people talk about that, all their core players took pay cuts to help the club, Malkin almost left because of it but stayed anyways because Crosby convinced him
Great report Mike….a few comments on the Leafs situation with Nylander:
1. The current situation falls squarely on Dubas' lap….Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Nylander should NEVER have been paid at the level they are currently being paid!!!! It has strapped the team terribly with alost half the salary cap hoing to 4 players!!!! That was a terrible move by Dubas!!!
2. Willy is a hell of a player…no question BUT he's all about the $$$. Is he due gor a raise….yup…BUT….he is not worth $10 million/season. Leafs eill be forced suck up to him and pay him or move him. My feeling now is they should trade him.
3. In a warped sort of way Willy is right re: declining the expectation that he should "take one for the team" and take less $$$ BUT will step up if Matthews and Marner also "take one for the team". He's right to think that it's not fair if those two aren't asked to do exactly what is being asked (or expected) of him. Id be insulted too if I were Willy.
Having said all that though…..Leafs should trade him because bottom line he isn't worth $10 mill/season and if you pay him it's just going to come back and bite you when the team has to pay M & M!!!! It's a NO WIN sutuation.

I don’t think the Sens would be able to get a 1st back from Detroit for Debrincat since Yzerman knows that Debrincat would probably gladly sign there in a year once he is a FA.
I could see Kubalik, and Zedina (and maybe a 2nd round pick) go back to Ottawa for Debrincat.
Zedina has already cleared waivers, so Ottawa could just send him to Belleville and see how he performs and/or bring him up if there is an injury. Kubalik has some potential and could fit well on the 2nd line.
You should get an updated version of both Karlsson and Nylander for your thumbnail it would be a nice change as we have seen them a 1000 times already and they both have shorter hair now especially Karlsson. Small ask but would help the videos feel "new"
