This team will have the same problem, the lack of physical play. If they make the playoffs you'll see what I'm talking about.

I dont think the defense moves are done. I do think a big problem was our bottom 6 fowards unable to play defensively and help our defense. I think that has been addressed by duby and i think that is going to make a fair difference. I also think our special teams need restructuring. The pk should be much better so that should help but the power play cant leak short handed goals, not score or even look dangerous, and not turn the momentum over to the other team when we should have the advantage.
DK is such a downer. No chance, minor upgrades at best, too many shots, goalie sucks, etc. if the pens end up doing well he’ll state how he “knew it all along”. I like the discussion since I’m a pens fan but this guy is a bit of a goob.

The goaltender was very good 21-22 season when healthy Jarry is good.Allstar twice.
I think everything is in neutral until they do or don't work out this Karlsson trade. If it doesn't go through, then there will be more moves to address the defense and clearing Petry's contract. I don't see them sticking with things as is. That said, if it does go through, I don't see how it does without Pettersson being part of it. Reports are the Hurricanes offer includes Pesce who rates much better as a defensive defenseman than even Pettersson. Why would they take Petry in a trade when they can get a better, younger player that better fits their rebuild? If this is a 3-team trade, then I can envision the Blackhawks (who need defensemen badly and have cap space) taking on Petry in part of a deal with SJ and the Pens to get that veteran presence and clear cap space for the Penguins, and Pettersson heading to SJ with picks and another player. If he's not part of the deal, then why would SJ just take Petry and a pick or two when they get a better return from the Hurricanes offer. They sure won't take Petry and Granlund. Nobody's that dumb. Oh wait, Hextall was.
im fine with all the moves, but resigning Jarry made me grab my chest like Fred Sanford. Seems like they could have made a move toward Gibson. Also please no Karlsson, we have enough vets on their back 9.
Apparently Sweeney is not amused by the line of questioning concerning Matt Grzelcyk of the cash strapped Bruins. That guy was a plus 45 last year on the first pairing!!!!

Yo DK. Thanks for including me in the banter. I think athletes can almost always get stronger through training and 'supplements' and that often gives them more mass. I don't look at the shoulders..I look at the legs. Hockey like other sports is played from the feet up…Example: I bet Crosby's thighs are massive..that makes him strong on his skates and explosive. Sidenote: I see we got Zohorna back. When I look at him I see Victor Hedman..maybe he even has more offensive skills. He is too old now to be converted to a D man I think, but does that still happen in the NHL??

Defend? With Jarry in net, it wont matter. Jarry is a sieve and a pylon. Hall of Fame Defenseman couldnt defend if they had Jarry in net!! DK, your great, but the Pens are doomed with Jarry in net. I am a huge Pens fan, but i have to draw the line with Jarry.
Please drop the love affair with Pettersson. I mean, I like him, he doesn't suck at all. But there is NOTHING stopping him from looking a little more like Patric Hornqvist and a lot less like Gabe from The Office.
Something that needs to be taken In consideration is kris letang missed 18 games. Jeff petty missed 21 games. Jan Rutta missed 26 games. Marcus Pettersson missed 14 games. The defense was pretty banged up except letang that was a personal situation. Domoulin and PO Joseph started playing way to many minutes and the bottom six was just bad defensively a little better injury luck this year and I believe our team defense will improve
