Wow….that is a heck of a package from Pens to Sharks for Karlsson!!!!! It's a no-brainer for the Sharks but is it really worth it for Pens….I'm not convinced. Let's see what the next few weeks reveals.

Canes offer Pesce, Skjei, Drury, 1st round pick, and 2nd round pick from Philly for Karlson with 35 percent retained contract. Sharks would be crazy not to take that!

The Sharks don't have much leverage — EK65 wants no part of Carolina in general and a Burns reunion in particular. Bet they would take a first- and second-/third-rounder, DeSmith and their choice of Petry/Granlund and Joseph/Pickering/Smith. The Sharks need a veteran goalie to pair with Kahkonen, and DeSmith made an indelible impression on them last February, when he stole two points in San Jose.
Riddle me this: Why would the Canes want another d-man when their lack of firepower up front couldn't be more apparent? Did anyone watch the playoff games? Nylander is the guy they should be after, not EK65.
Would be great if the Sharks trade Coture to a contender… or, at least MORE of a contender than San Jose.
In 3-4 years the Pens are going to be brutal and no farm system. 🤷🤷
San Jose should not retain salary on Karlsson. 11.5 million for a 102 points is a good value in today's nhl.
Nylander will need to be traded or permitted to leave as a ufa to help the leafs obtain better defense and goaltending. Most championship teams have two #1 defensemen and a solid top four.
The penguins need younger players to prepare for Letang and Crosby's retirements. Trading for Karlsson is a risk and does not help the team out long term.

I would love to see Logan Couture with the Blues, who just reacquired Oskar Sundqvist from the Red Wings. Excellent report , as always. Whoever gets Tarasenko will get a motivated player, indeed. The Blues will go with Binnington and Hofer as the goalie tandem , with Thomas Greiss' retirement.
Drew O’Conner’s contract could be done in a heartbeat…yet it is not. He could be included in a trade for EK65.
One thing is becoming clear…the market for EK65 is drying up…now KD plays the waiting game.
I'd like to see Ty Smith in San Jose, at least there he'd have a better chance to actually get to play.
Pens need hellybuck and better forwards. Go with younger players. Its all about speed in todays game
