2 minutes for hooking
I played in late 70s thru 90s-and we called it hacking-not a big hook/slash/hold/interference, but plenty to hinder puck carrier. I would hook a defensive player trying to get into play (when caught out of position), and make that guy drag me with him, and this kind of thing rarely got called. If you got some refs, they would literally let felony type crime go without so much a minor penalty. It was kind of nuts when ya think about it-how many great talents were just hacked to death I wonder?

In one of my games, a buddy of mine subbed for us. He was definitely playing down, but it was a good league and he wasn’t too out of place. Anyway, he was skating down the middle of the rink and a guy on the other team just bear hugged him and fell down. I’ll never forget when the ref looked to our bench and said “it was a good defensive play”
Anyone who scored 500 goals during the dead puck era should be in the Hall of Fame.
And people think Gretzky would be worse without that.

Is the dead puck era an actually term or is it just laziness/importing a term from baseball? The puck wasn’t the issue. We can come up with a better name, cant we?
Looks like real hockey to me. Compared to today’s ice dancing, everyone weat a face shield wussified version of the game.
