    Fair deal. I also think Samsonov on a one year deal is going to make him hungry to prove himself again. It also gives Woll some runway to show whether or not he can make the jump to full time NHLer. The "fracture the relationship" narrative doesn't take into account the fact Samsanov has to showcase himself again, his play is hardly going to sulk over this.

    Samsonov did fine. I think a 1 year deal is fine. If he is lights out halfway through the season, maybe he signs an extension .

    $12+ mil over the cap. What if Murray and Muzzin are both healthy? Trading both still not enough to get under the cap.

    The Loser Leafs are not fine. An NHL record extending 57 years with No Cup in 2024 is not fine.

    Let’s be real here. Here is a 26 year old man making 3.5 million dollars to play hockey. Based on playing 50 games, that’s $71,000 a game. All US Dollars. Fantastic, become a stud #1 and next year it will be 5 million. Love the Leafs and Love Ilya.

    Looks like more negativity and Leafs again snatching failure from the jaws of victory. Samsonov was the first goalie to win a playoff series in 20 years for the Leafs and his reward is this negativity – he has to go to arbitration to get a below average contract offer?

    Sure the Leafs win dollar wise by getting this goalie at about $3.6 Million – but the Leafs have really demotivated their top goalie by telling Samsonov they don’t want to be fair to him – as they are not in general fair to their non Core 4 Leaf players – so Leafs Executives forced this arbitration.

    If Samsonov plays well – after these arbitration demoralizations and Leaf Executive negativity – is it not now in his best interests to just leave Toronto as soon as he can?
