#nhl #hockey #sanjosesharks #sanjose #requins #pittsburghpenguins #pittsburgh #pingouins #nhloffseason #nhltraderumors #trade #trades #hockeynews

Come on Dubus you clown get this guy at 9 mil i cant wait to watch his regression its going to be WILD !! 🤣
Frank is correct that the deal for Erik Karlsson will be slow coming and more likely than not, very low returns for the Sharks. I agree and it is more likely than he does not get traded this summer at all due to these low returns and salary retention, which Mike Grier already got burned on in the Brent Burns trade to Carolina for 2 minimal prospects and a low draft pick, while retaining over 25%. Grier has that awful aftertaste from his first big trade and seeing Burns have a great season with the Canes, leading their defence in many ways. It is much more likely that Karlsson gets traded only in Spring 2024 just before the deadline when a contender needs extra help or depth to make its playoff run and they go all in by getting the best defenceman on the market. Note that if this is true then the hockey pundits and media game predicting a Karlsson move will be idle thinking for months and you all would better spend your time playing your favourite video game or taking a calming walk on a nature trail to get cool. Don't get overheated with useless Karlsson speculation! The real shame of this deal is that some teams are using salary retention schemes to circumvent the salary cap and the NHL should really tighten all these ridiculous loopholes and respect the cap.
I have never heard so much crap spoken about a second best team in the league for a few years running. First of all the Canes D-Core is one of if not THE BEST in the league already!!!! Adding Karlsson and losing Pecse would weaken that D-Core!!!!! Pesce is a great ALL-ROUND defenseman. Karlsson is a very good offensive defenseman who sucks defensively!!! The Canes got Orlov to replace Ghost who did nothing offensively for the Canes and did not like playing the Canes DEFENSE FIRST system. Neither would Karlsson . Karlsson would not produce the same in Carolina as he did in SJ. Say the Canes did get Karlsson. He would not be paired with Burs like everyone is saying. He would be with Slavin (THE REAL BEST DEFENSEMAN IN THE LEAGUE!!!) Orlov with Skjei Burns and Chatty! Chatfield has become a mini Slavin. Chatfield and Burns played great together last year when slavin missed some games with injury. But that would put Chatflield on his off side. But he handled it well. As a Canes fan and as a coach who coaches a defense first system myself, I do not like giving up a solid guy like Pesce for a defensive liability like Karlsson!!!!!
As for the Canes not having super stars. AHO IS ONE OF THE BEST ALL ROUND CENTERS IN THE NHL!!!!!!! If you were to put Aho Svech or even Necas on a team like the Leafs or Oilers either one of them would score 40-50 goals a season. But that has done nothing for either of those teams!!!!!!! The Canes produce great ALL-ROUND players!!!!!! As a coach I would fill my team with Aho's over McDavids any day! Look at the records when the two play each other. Aho has a 90% edge over McDavid going back to Junior nats. McDavid with all those points was just +2 in early March before Evander Kane came back from injury and put on McDavid's line. Kane who is a great ALL-ROUND player helped McDavid out of the jams that he put them in with poor defensive/out of defensive position plays. Lets be honest the Oilers were struggling to hold on to the wildcard spot before Evander Kane returned. After he returned they went on a heck of a run! I would say the Oilers with their "super stars" don't make the playoffs without Evander Kane!
Karlsson for Mathews lol
Do the Sharks really NEED to move EK65? They aren't going to be competitive for at the very least another 3 years, and by that time it'll be one more year until a lot of money comes off the books (Karlsson, Vlassic, Burns' retention, etc). What does getting a portion of EK's 11.5M back in cap space do for the team short term? Virtually nothing.
The only reason we're talking about moving him is because he wants to go somewhere to try to win a cup before he retires. He signed that contract in San Jose, no one forced him to. He gambled, like the sharks did, and lost. San Jose is under no obligation to move him without a decent return. If there is no return, then they keep him. Simple as that. If EK doesn't like it, he's more than welcome to mutually terminate his contract with SJS so he can go chase a cup elsewhere.
The Pens have there first round picks from 2022 Pickering and 2023 Yager.
Its like an old man’s club in Pittsburgh if ek65 goes there
