They are still going nowhere with that scoring depth so stop these analysis.
Does Frank not see the depth that Dubas added before the season? How can you look at three guys that were non-factors and be like Dubas eroded depth?
I think that San Jose is exactly doing that. They're Dumping & Acquiring at The Same Time (I guess that you'd call it Retool On The Fly), but, I don't get it either.
The David Quinn Curse. Decent Coach With A Horrible Team (As He Was With The Rangers)
The guys just want to win, the big 3 and sullivan were all in on EK coming in, letang especially gave dubas the go ahead these are a group of guys we’ve never seen before there is 0 selfishness in them it’s all about one last championship I don’t see a scenario where EK coming in hurts the team
Petry, Rutta and granlund all were anchors to the team… none of them will be missed I’d rather have a young guy like poulin and puustinen in the roster then any of those guys
playoffs this year, Stanley Cup contention next year
The Penguins finished 1 point Florida. Florida went to the finals. Anything can happen when you get into the playoffs. Karlsson should help them get into the playoffs and then we'll see what happens.
Sharks might get lower round draft pick or AHL prospect from Montreal?
Using a 1 and 2 that most likely will never make an impact to rid themselves of around 14 mil of dead weight is a win itself. Then to get erik karlsson on top of that and say they ruined depth that never existed last year and say its not a good deal?? Is this guy smoking crack or what???
9:20 did anyone expect Florida to bounce Boston? 8th seeded LA to win a cup?
Frank doesn't know what he's talking about, as usual. At least he's not making us stuff today, as usual.
san jose gets cap flexibility and assets to flip at the deadline plus a first. they are set up in a way a rebuilding team should be. plus the contracts they took on are not long term
I don't believe the Sharks have been in a rebuild for 4 years. They've been in denial under Wilson and now in Grier's 2nd year they're in the 2nd year of a true rebuild.
There's no doubt that I'd prefer Grier to go ahead and retain more in order to gain a larger package, but that could be costly down the road in 3-4 years when we need to place talent in UFA signings for our young core (Eklund, Smith, Musty, Mukh, Thrun, Bystedt, Bords, etc.). I don't expect the Sharks to be any better than we were last year to gain more a more top-end footprint with the prospect pool, even with low-risk signings and trades for players that will have larger spotlights in San Jose with better roles. There's now a mixture of competitiveness between NHL vets with something to prove and prospects looking to get onto the roster. It's a win-win situation for prospect development and gaining assets over the trade deadline. The big thing is that players care who they play for and know that Grier will treat them well by either giving them a chance to get bigger minutes or if shit hits the fan and they request a trade, he'll do his best to make it happen.
Monteal also finished 28th last year.
Not sure all the hate towards the return we got. We picked up players who could have a decent year and would be eligible to be flipped at the deadline. We also got a 1st round pick who will end up being somewhat decent. By next offseason, we will have a ton of cap space and could add a bunch of young talent. Couture needs to be shipped off and sent to a contender
Best of luck for the Pens, but don’t be surprised if he declines again. He doesn’t work well with other talented defenseman. He likes to be the top guy and he may not perform the way he did when he was the main guy on the Sharks.
Penguins lost depth in this trade? No they didn’t. They gained cap space to be more efficient with their depth signings. Frank has some…interesting takes on the Pens lol
Kris Letang has been running the point for the Pens PP for years….this does not mean he has been running it well, however.
Yes, Frank. Feed the Penguins doubt train.
