LNH 2023

The facts are that players want to play in big markets, like: New York, Montreal, Los Angeles etc. while Quebec is another Winnipeg or Phoenix Nobody’s dreaming to play there…
I want them back. But the league won’t do it unless there’s some major expansion. It’s best case scenario the league is selling merchandise for a team that doesn’t exist lol. Those fans still watch hockey in Quebec. The league wants new fans rightly or wrongly
Maybe Quebec wouldn’t be the huge success the nhl wants but it’s such a safe choice with not much risk
bettman sux Arizona and houston aren't hockey markets neither is salt lake polygamists
Bring back the Nordiques
Ontario can handle 4 NHL teams btw
Worst idea since Atlanta. Let them fold, then give Quebec the same "draft" picks Seattle and Vegas got. Winnipeg got the Betman deal of acquiring shit team and are still struggling. Don't settle for a bust, yet again.
Please for the love of God & all that is holly, pleaae bring them back! 🙏
I think one of the reason’s Quebec can’t have an NHL team. Is probably because they riot like no other city in North America. They burn the city down regardless if they win or loose.
Let's put it this way, the Nords and the Whalers were average to slightly above average markets, like, not as big as Vancouver but not as small as say Columbus or Florida (the Panthers, not the State) before both teams moved. As far as I know, there's no way the Whalers are returning to Hartford, at least not in the foreseeable future.
All I'm saying is, don't bring the Nords back for the sake of bringing them back.
As passionate as Quebec fans were/are, how many of those fans would pack the place if the team is having a crap season? If the cost of the tickets matches that of going to see the Leafs (insert Squirrely Dan commentary here), would they still go to games on a regular basis?
Honestly, I don't want to see any more American teams, it's oversaturation at this point.
Also doesn’t help that Winnipeg is in some financial trouble because of a lack of season tickets. City population is just too small. It’s why the NHL is trying to salvage the 5th largest city in the US.
As long as Pee Wee Bettman is in charge no 🇨🇦 team will be added. 🤷🤷
I think part of it’s Bettman—I don’t think too highly of the guy to be honest I think he’s an assh—e…some of the rule changes and playoff format are among my biggest qualms with that man! 🤢
When the Tempe deal fell through for the Coyotes I saw a bunch of celebrations and comments about how the team should move to Quebec in a Coyotes fan stream. I thought that was really gross and I have a pretty low opinion of Nordiques fans because of it, and I'm not even a Coyotes fan.
Bettman put a team in Columbus fk'n Ohio, why do anything that makes sense?
Don't know that Quebec would be able to consistently sustain a hockey club. When Winnipeg moved we were having the same conversations 10 years later, trying to get them back and then we got them but it's entirely obvious that Winnipeg could at any point go under, what makes Quebec any different? for the record, I would love the Nords back, having an Owen Nolan jersey with the Nordiques logo would be FIRE!
The Coyotes are indeed a joke, a zombie franchise which is dead for a long time, with no arena, and a few leftover fans. Nobody, not even their home city supports them. The NHL is no BIG 4 sport anymore, so Bettman shouldn't dream of other US teams like Houston, Salt Lake City or Kansas. The NHL needs some passion, some new fierce rivalries, which can only be delivered by passionate fans which you will not find in the cities mentioned above.
How much of the Arizona problem is bad ownership history vs a bad hockey market?
NHL is ridiculous lately
I have bee saying it for over 12 years. Come back to Canada. We need an even number of teams up north. The money is there I'm telling yeah I don't get the arguments against it. I love the Nordiques, if they came back I'd be supporting.
I mean… I don't think Dallas is gonna complain about a Houston team…
There's already a great fanbase and a contending team in Texas, bringing some attention to Houston, as the rival.
While yes it would be huge for the league to bring back the Nordiques…I personally feel that Hartford would be more likely at this point to rejoin the league
Doesn’t matter if fans are there or not. It’s not an attractive market for players, especially European and American. It’s too far north in a province that prides itself on not speaking English. It actually makes Winnipeg look desirable.
Gary Bettman’s hand rubbing intensifies
We really don’t need any more French broadcasts
Shannon's videos will simply explain to all in detail why this will never happen even though Canadians want it so bad.
Respect for THG shoutout
18000 seats in the videotron center.
It was full during the series.
It was half full during the season.
More fans for a qmjhl team than for an nhl team
The argument is made that you wouldn't want to split Quebec fans into two teams, but then you have Ottawa and Toronto sharing a provincial fan base, and if you suggest Houston, then you split the Texas fan base with them and Dallas.
Sadly, there's no way Quebec gets another team as long as Bettman is in office.
Very good video, but I have to voice my disagreement concerning the province of Quebec as being Habs' country. Most of the people from Quebec hate the Habs and switched to the Bruins or stayed with the Avalanche when the franchise left. They would get back in the Nordiques wagon in a heartbeat and we would once again have one of the best rivalry in the NHL, a rivalry that also exist in the Belle Province in the political, cultural and economical fields.
You are 100% right though when you say no new hockey fan would be created. But then again, this in Canada; do we really need to have a new franchise in Guatemala to have new hockey fans? Why not create a great entertainment with great rivalries instead? I mean the whole world watches the Super Bowl because it is a great show and not because they have a football culture.
The problem is Canada has 1/10th of the population of the US. If the game of hockey is to grow, you can't have another Canadian team.
PLUGGING SHANNON THE GOAT OF VAN ISLAND
You say Montreal is Quebec's Team. Who is Alberta's Team then?
Qc jumped the gun building that stadium.
The only time they will sellout is when Habs or Avalanche are in town.
They wont survive 5 years of sucking. And yes they cant compete with MTL fanbase
Bettman hates Canada.
Huge market in Houston and I think that's where thr NHL will try to move and or expand to.
Love the Nordiques but Quebec isn't the piece of the Market pie the NHL wants
Houston is huge and has a massive population and other major sports franchises. A Dallas Stars vs Houston would be the big population grab for thr NHL. Loads of money to be had there vs any Canadian city.
The other issue is if they move to quebec, they would go to the eastern conference, so some east team would have to go west. Only one that makes sense is detroit and they fought tooth and nail to be in the east. You could leave it 17/15 but that would be dumb and an unbalanced schedule that the team in the east who missed the playoffs by one point would complain about.
Molson will never let it happen!
The only way they'll get a team is if they can get Winnipeg and even then it would be a stretch. Sad but True.
I'd love to see the nordiques back. I'm a flyers fan so I suppose it really doesn't matter but it'd be nostalgic of the 80s when I discovered the wonderful thing called hockey
i want your dad to be abel to love Qc and i want to be abel to love hating them in a good way like love hate with toronto not boston cause like im not kiding every boston game i have went to has had many fights in the crowd and the ice
If Betman had his way he would put a team in Antarctica.
