That’s one of the worst calls I have ever seen.
Shooting while falling then immediately getting up is embellishment? Interesting.
Refs should be disciplined for calls that bad.

They need to change the rule. If a penalty is ruled to have been embellished by the fouled player, then the referee can allow play to continue rather than penalize both players. There can be a gesture for it to show the referee saw a penalty but ruled embellishment.

before the goal there’s no call for a hook(at least from a ref on screen, might have been an Advantage from one off screen?) if it’s a played advantage the penalty would be declined, but because of how embellishment works they aren’t allowed to decline a penalty they didn’t want.
people joke about how Goaltender Interference makes no sense, but hockey’s embellishment rules are WAAAY dumber

Gotta be the worst embellishment call of all time. Normally they call the embellishment along with the initial « penalty ». This being one of the rare time they only call the dive makes it even more crazy.

I don’t really see how you can justify this in anyway; embellishment implies intent, but the fact that he’s shooting it as he falls kinda shows his intent was to shoot the puck, not to draw a penalty

Firstly, I really love the NHL for having an embellishment penalty. It adds a massive amount of respect to the game. This was probably an incorrect call to make because he kept trying to play through the contact.
