  1. For all the criticism the Pacific has gotten over the years, that's a tough division, whether the Canucks are good or not. Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Seattle and Vegas could all conceivably make the playoffs. Even LA might have an outside chance at being a surprise wildcard. I still don't see their back end as quite good enough, but if Seattle taught us anything, anything's possible. If Demko stays healthy, they absolutely have a chance. But that's it. I don't favour them against any of the presumed top 4 teams in that division. And their cognitive dissonance about Pettersson is shocking. Yes, he's a great 2 way 100 point player. But he won't resign long term unless this is at least a playoff team, if not a contender. They're taking a huge risk here and if heaven forbid he gets injured or both Demko and Pettersson get hurt and the season is sunk, what is Pettersson, who won't sign long term for a non-playoff team, worth if he's banged up? They rushed the rebuild, made it take 10x longer, and now, 10 years after they should have started one, there's probability that they make it now – as if the end game is a 1st round playoff exit. My guess is that the Canucks will need to stay healthy and a key guy from a presumed playoff team will have to get hurt long term and take that team out of the race for them to have a chance. And I say that as a Canucks fan since 1990. I thought the late 90s teams overall were actually better on paper than this one. The early 2000s Rangers that couldn't get it done were better on paper. I heard someone on the radio say that the Canucks have a chance if they play the trap. That may be their only hope. But Miller's not doing that.

  2. As a Canucks fan, I have them 6th in the division. I can't see them getting into the playoffs.

  3. Make or break year for the franchise. Unfortunately i have them being a break this year. Petterson hugues will all be gone by trade deadline for sure petterson. This franchise had such a great future only for it to be ruined by benning. Boudreau's firing was the icing on the cake. 6th in the division and you stare into the abyss baring a miracle

  4. Not sure when you guys recorded this but the Canucks have been cap compliant for weeks

  5. Excited to see all the salty Canucks fans that think they're going to be first in the division because they play well at end of the year when games matter less to teams because a select few teams are fighting for their playoff lives.

  6. after the boudreau firing the schedule became much easier. so it was always posited that they would have a better record towards the end of the season regardless of the coach.

  7. calgary could slip again, seattle could fall off.. demko stays healthy, the canucks could surprise.
