  1. Early last season they played an open style that had the defenders joining the rush. Something they just didn’t do under Trotz. After a good start. Injuries hit and they couldn’t score goals to make up for there loss in the backend. Just before they traded for Horvat they went back to Trotz hockey, and just played that will all the way till the playoffs. This year they are back to the start of last season and will hope for injury luck to keep them in the hunt for a playoff spot

  2. I don't think the Islanders have any interest in getting rid of Varlamov, that deal he's on was signed this July. It seems they look at him as a solid backup where if anything at all happens to Sorokin they won't be totally screwed.

  3. The team didn’t really move on from Barry trotz. Their coach now was trotz’s assistant coach so it’s just trotz but slightly different and a little worse.

    Edit: also fire their special teams coach into the sun

  4. The team is a goddamn mess. Lou has ruined this team for the next decade. A rebuild is inevidable in the next 3 or so years.
