The leafs are not underrated, they are over rated.
The Leafs are only beginning to gel as a team. You have a lot of new players who, I feel, are better than what they had last year. Bertuzzi, Domi, Knies, Gregor, Wohl, McCabe, Robertson and even McCann are all helping give the team depth. I think they could come together and be better with this number of players who all have something to add. Maybe they need another defenceman but otherwise I think they are pretty good.
The fact that you are asking if they are under rated means they are over rated. This is not the playoffs. Our Defence corps has not improved. Also this team and the fans still dont know what it takes for this team to improve. Every year we see awesome results in the season and cower in playoffs. This teams mentality is still too soft. I say this when i see Keefe not playing Reaves every game or the fans disappointed with Reaves. You have to play players that are less skilled to offset deficiencies on your team and what worries me is that I dont think Keefe is not the right coach for the playoffs. That and they have to improve one of the softest least skilled Dcorps in the league.

Found the stat JD. – .673. The only stat that matters. It's regular season so winning all the 1 goal and OT games is somehow a negative. If it were playoffs it would be viewed as exactly what it takes to make a cup run. At some point you have to accept that the points are real. I understand where the concerns are but the negativity is far more pathetic than the team it is directed at.

No I think there are way too many average meh teams in the league that the leafs can beat and feast on.. They still need some grit and sound defensive play to compete in the playoffs

JD is comparing him to his Islanders years and how he isn't living up to how good he was then ?? 0.92 points per game as an Islander. 0.98 points per game as a Leaf. Tavares played 669 games in New York with 621 points and if he continues at his points per game pace in Toronto he will have 655 points. His best year in New York was 86 points (10 years ago) and he put up 80 last year not bad for a guy who is "underachieving"
