Somehow that kind of felt like more of a beating than Carolina took
Sloppy first but they got better as the game went on. It shows that they are focused. This is becoming a complete team developing good, repeatable habits. Let’s keep it going!

Wow! Just Wow! They were absolutely horrible to start the year. They look tremendous now. My Spirit got whiplash.
I think this puts us 1 point out of the last wild card with 2 games in hand. Who would have thought that was possible 8 games ago.
Lighting lose to Vancouver and are traveling…a good chance they can make it 9 in a row.
So happy to see it. I still feel they should pursue a goaltender especially for playoffs, but the way they are play is absolutely marvelous, I was at the game tonight and was ecstatic, love to see it!! Go Oil Wohoo!!!!!!
I also think Knoblauch is very smart in the sense that if guys are out for powerplays a bunch, he compensates by letting the other guys have extra ice time and shuffles up the lines, that way you have all 4 lines playing a fair amount of minutes each game, something Woody didnt do, and it works, look at Vegas, all 4 lines rolling playing decent minutes and they won a cup doing so. Excited to see them keep rolling!

Bedard gets the first goal, quick shot over Skinner's left shoulder. It takes the Oilers just over 6 minutes to respond. Bouch feeds Nuge to McDavid back to Nuge and and bam it's in. Nine minutes later we get DEPTH SCORING. Ryan to Gagner and in. BTW Gagner played the LEAST amount of minutes had the highest +/- in the game and was 3rd star (and the only one of the 3 stars with a goal). Second period only goal by Leon on a feed from Gagner to Ceci with a deflection off of Zaitsev's stick. Pure luck goal but hey, we'll take it. Final goal of the game, only goal in the 3rd a PP Goal by the Oilers Bouch to Connor to Hyman up front and boom, 4-1.
I couldn't watch the game (medical realty strikes again) but caught the highlights. If you look strictly at the base stats Chicago hit a lot more (nearly double), blocked double the shots, had a lot more takeaways and were close in faceoffs (Oilers won 28, Chicago 24), Oilers even had 50% more Giveaways. On paper just by numbers other than the Oilers having 29 shots and Chicago 23 you'd think this should have been a lot closer than it was but it wasn't. Numbers are great but numbers can lie too. Just another example of that. Oh but numbers can tell the truth too, PK at 100% again for the Oilers and PP at 50%. Not bad. Skinner had a good night once he woke up after the Bedard goal. Shows that when we play our best we can be the best.
Its almost like we just said "lets see if we can shut out the other team". The offense will have opportunities. Too talented not to be. So lets just focus on defense. That kind of pride and desire to defend is the basis for a good playoff hockey team
I don't want to bash Woody…..But it's always been an issue with me, as to, how sluggish and unprepared "his Oilers" were coming out the gate….as well they usually failed to play 3 periods of hockey!

We sit and watch YOU down a Stanley Cup Contender over a slow start and insult the KING MCDAVID. TRADE THE WHOLE TEAM. YOU MUST BE CRAZY. But , not today. TODAY, your SCHIZOPHRENICLY happy. YOU SHOULD BE. WATCH THE OIL WIN THE CUP THIS YEAR. Show them some respect. REALLY, The OILERS could say NO ONE BELIEVED IN THEM AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR , except THE FANS IN PHOENIX. Funny.
