  1. No new GM will run with the same nine (Tkachuk, Stutzle, Batherson, Pinto, Greig, Sanderson, Chychrun, Chabot, Norris) core pieces rolling into 2024-2025. I figure two of the nice are out to door in trades. Why? Well this is Dorion's creation and it has not worked yet. GM will want to put his stamp on this team so there WILL be changes. On top of this year's annual Ottawa Senators dumping of players deadline deals to move Tarasenko, Kubalik, Brannstrom, Forsberg and MacEwen (if you can dump him). Getting a GM in place sooner rather than later is preferred.

  2. No major trades before the end of the season, but once a new GM is in and there's been time to evaluate the team under Martin, Staios and the next GM will have more insight into what's missing and what's not working. I couldn't tell you who gets moved, but unless they go on an absolute heater for the rest of the season, there will absolutely be some changes made.

  3. Season over boys. Sad but true. We will once again have to live with the " Another year to figure it out " attitude.

That said, I would not give up on this core. Too much talent not enough guidance or will to win.

It's a battle for 60 minutes you have to have the mentality that you might not make it out alive …..BUT YOU WILL BE VICTORIOUS!!

    HURAH! Aggressive formations!!

The only unacceptable risk is flying 100mph into the end boards. Anyone who does this to someone is scum.

  4. I’ll say it again… top 5 teams average $45M for Fs, $32M for Ds, $6.5M for Gs. I would suggest Ottawa spend less than $5M on goalies and improve it when we actually have a competitive team. Ottawa needs depth on the bottom 6 and needs 2 big Ds that can play hard minutes in the bottom pairing.

The biggest problem Ottawa has $41M committed to its top 6Fs. If you move 1 or 2 $8M guys and not resign Tarasenko that would be around $21M with the salary cap going up should give them $26M to fix those problems. Spend about $8-10M on 3rd line, $5-$6M on fourth line, get rid of Brannstrom and Hamonic (gives you another $3M) that gives you enough to upgrade by spending around $6M on your bottom pairing and that leaves you about $6-$7M to replace one of those $8M guys.

Top 4D would be at $27M (roughly) add $6M and we are on track. With cap going up, just use %. So $45M is 54% for Fs, 38% for Ds and 8% for goalies (although personally I would not for next year.. I’d cheap out on goalies).
