I watched this game I’m a huge TBL fan the goalie held the puck for 4 SECONDS! The refs said it was a good goal cause no whistle was blown… They have the IQ of literal toddlers. We one 4-3 anyway though sooooooooooooo

Tampa 100% deserved this. They tried to withdraw from the play before it was over. If they do not pressure the goalie, the play is not over. Sad but they deserve what they get when they capitulate. Similar thing happened in Dallas a couple nights ago but there wasn’t a goal. It’s a funny moment yeah, but refs need to blow the whistle way sooner. Don’t give goalies heaps of time to sit there and think about playing it.

The refs are an embarrassment to the sport. I hope Tampa makes a thing out of this.

The ref did exactly the right thing. Nobody was pressuring the goalie, so he has to move the puck.

What about the very subtle small hand guesture from only one ref to shh keep the play going not verbal just small hand movement to tell them to keep it moving… The hand guesture seemed hidden and almost intended to be subtle play till the whistle i guess but lets talk about this little hand guesture from the ref…
We can hear ''a'' whistle after the shot, probably not from the referees but we can hear it if you're listening carefully. The referees should had warned the players that no official whistle have occured

Should’ve went for a goalie goal
The ref will only blow a play dead if there is opposing pressure near the net. If there is none, by rule the goalie is required to play the puck or receive a delay of game penalty. This was officiated correctly

Bolt Fan, saw this happen on the broadcast and not surprised at all. Tampa was ASLEEP through half the game. Even our own TV guys called them out on it at one point.
Anyway, glad we won, but guys, please, clean up the mental errors already.
This is proof today's NHL is full of automatism to the point that 99,9% players can't think outside of the box. It's the big difference between then and now and why you can't compare the McDavids or Ovechkins with the Gretzkys or Lafleurs of the old days. Now the game may be more balanced, more strategic and more evolved in many aspects but back a few decades ago the game was played on the ice as it unfolded and was not pre-programmed in the players' minds as if they were robots.

The amount of people in here that don’t know that an offensive player has to be near the goalie for the play to be blown dead is crazy
Pretty sure the ref was trying to win on a 100000000+ odd that Montembeault would score, but settled for the assist instead.. From richest man on earth to broke is what happened.
