Myself, I check in for fastest skater and hardest shot on youtube highlights. The rest isn’t worth my time.
I watched an interesting documentary from 30 for 30 called « Celtics/Lakers ». The NBA in the 70s was kind of in a stalemate, much like the NHL is today. The thing they talked about was better marketing of players (Larry Bird, Magic Johnson) and revamping the all-star game and swithcing commissioners, which made it take off and rise in major popularity.
It may be that time for the NHL to have their transition time into a new Era and new direction.
