another lovely video! but could you also make a video on the jets achievement last night? as a proud jets fan this is the greatest accomplishment ive seen us achieve!
I'm siding with clean hit. And, I am 100% on board with Chicago going after Smith at the time and the fight later. They MUST protect him. The GREAT ONE had Semenko and then McSorley. Sid the Kid never had a henchman and was constantly getting smashed. Sid missed 150 games from 2011 through 2013.
POOOOOON the antidote to all these highskilled young twinks is to just hit them not even that hard lol, sure they'll rack up points in the regular season but you're not making it in the playoffs being that soft, and teams shouldn't be scared the only repercussion is Folingo lol it's not like it's Reeves
Nobody cried when Lindros was hit, but Bedard getting hit is a no-no ? LOL … talk about double standard.
Fractured jaw. 😔
He’s going on IR with a broken jaw.. Little guy is going to have a hard time in the NHL taking hits..
I hate that this is a conversation piece. It speaks to how the NHL has been manipulating the sport so much over the past few decades.
Young rookie goes down the middle of ice with his head down and gets his jaw popped off as a reward. If anything, Chicago should be thankful Smith laid him out with a good, clean hit. If he threw his elbow into that or pushed his momentum up (both of which are extremely common), this injury could have been career ending.
Instead, he reserves himself, makes sure to lower the elbow and simply stood his ground and is met with massive amounts of dirty plays and eventually has to fight someone … for making the correct play? Such a joke.
At 50 years old, I can make that move against Luke Hughes
Good hockey play by Smith. He filled the gap, tucked the elbow and dropped the shoulder.
Bedard didn’t keep his head up and ran into Smith’s elbow moving fast. Smith can’t let a high skill player walk in on his Goalie. I hope the Hawks don’t rush Bedard back. They aren’t competitive let him heal.
I was a huge, however small in stature, offensive threat when I played. But, I was always the best skater on the ice. It was real hard to knock me off my feet. And I could deliver some big hits on defence whenever i wanted.
I hate primadonna offensive players (who don't play defence), with a passion.
I send them to the bench! Screw Bedard!
Bedard is responsible for the biggest increase of new hockey fans and tv ratings in decades. This is bad if you are a hockey fan period.
Broken Jaw
It's refreshing to hear someone with a legit opinion on the game of hockey. Yes, Bedard has the ability to do great things in the nhl, and i look forward to that as he is the only reason i watch hockey. That being said, don't change the rules of a game to accommodate smaller players. If your a smaller player, then ya better learn how to protect yourself. Going through the middle, especially on the blue line, has aalllllwwwaaayyss been known as the danger zone as scott stevens was known for proving time and time again. If you think your gonna dangle through everyone, you better be protecting yourself for the inevitable is to come. That used to be the first thing you were tought coming up through the ages in canada, but it seems like the world of hockey is being hijacked by a bunch broken fingernail soccer players. I hope this is just a good learning moment for him, and he can continue to do great things. Also, the way the teams reacted afterwards was perfect and should never change. With rules comes lack of respect. Give a guy his lumps afterwards and you can shake hands for a job well done but introducing rules and fines and all this bs they are trying to bring in will also introduce a lack of respect and more people getting injured and a more ugly game to watch just like men's soccer is today
Fractured jaw
Easily the most physical game of the year
I mean Bedard has had it easy so far, but the NHL is no longer juniors. You have to be tough and have to be ready for adult men to hit hard. Keep your head up, or your legs moving faster.
He literally broke his jaw and probably gonns miss an all star game and everyone here keeo saying clean hit???
not much to talk about .clean good hit
Cheapshot hits "accidentally/on purpose" injured and sadly ended the careers of players like Marc Savard and Paul Kariya. Those types of hits should never have been allowed to be part of the game, nor should hits like Tkachuk's hit on Eichel during the SCF last spring.
IMHO, I dont think the hit on Bedard falls into that category. That said, sadly he still got injured and it will teach him to keep his head up and take some responsibility to protect himself. A truly bad cheapshot is inevitavle, because for some reason the NHL officials and Player Safety dont seem to care about protecting its stars.
BROKEN JAW OH MY GOODNESS WHY WHY WHY THIS SEASON IS SO OVER
Yep. Clean hit. But one hundred percent delivered with intent to injure, not to simply separate the man from the puck and gain puck control. He couldn't have cared less where the puck would end up. Guys who line players up like this are looking to draw attention to themselves and get some cheers from the crowd. It's all about the entertainment value I suppose. I get more entertainment out of the skill aspect of the game, but I suspect the average fan would prefer to see fights and bone crushing hits.
Head is principle point of contact.
… You mean a hit?
It was hardly even a hit by Smith. He held his position and Bedard ran in to him. What was SMith supposed to do, get out of the way?
Hate to see Conner get injured like that, such a talent exciting to watch. I hope he ends up okay. It was a clean hit defending, Connor is just a shorter and smaller player than Smith.
Agreed, clean hit
Didn't Look too bad and I'm surprised Bedard was even hurt. A fracture even seems a little much, maybe it was dislocated a little
Was a clean hit, but really hope the kid is okay soon.
Dont even like chicago, but i have empathy
Hit looked clean but definitely fine Tom Wilson just to be safe.
I'm sure you watched the flames vs flyers game. Can you please address players stupidly turning at the last second from a hit. I font know who taught these players to do that. Can you also talk about the hanifin cross checking pentaly and Wenger hooking pentaly. Its embarking to see how soft they are calling these games
the kid will learn that not everyone will let him pass just because he's a young superstar. He's not a baby, let him take his place and fight to prove that he deserves it.
This sucks that he can't win the Calder now….4-6 weeks….and foligno breaking his finger coming to the defense is a shame
Hello please help me I'm a time traveler from the 80s and I have no idea what's going on and I want to go home.
Bedsy has a fractured jaw and got hit straight in the face that’s suspension worthy.
Clean hit but slightly high. As a hawks fan I hope they just forfeit the year at this point. No one wants to watch the Rockford ice hogs get destroyed by nhl teams every night
No All Star appearance then?
Sucks that it happened but it's part of the game. Not sure how you learn from this. Much bigger and tougher players' careers has ended early because it's simply the nature of the beast.
