Hildebeast will get his opportunity. Jones is on fire right now and playing phenomenal but he is a veteran goalie and can’t play every game.

The Nylander contract is going to make the make the Clarkson contract look like managerial brilliance. Aho 8.5 million. Horvat 8.5 million. Nylander would be generously paid right there. 8.5×8. Yea he is having a great year but who is the real Nylander? The guy working his butt off now or the lazy guy who didn't even try on defense the other 8 years. It would be better to let him walk than pay him 11.5. Imagine Marner's next contract. They are overpaying by 3 million. I guess that puts Marner at 15 mill. I am sure you can build a team around that.

Sign Willy ✅…. Tavares deal ends after next season. the money won't be an issue with a rising cap year after year. Marner "could" be the odd man out . he's only on an 85 point pace and having a down year by his standards. Mitch should re-sign for 8 years as well at 10 per….if not, let him go.
They make too much…. Greed is terrible. The problem is that the big 4 make the difference almost every night. If the Leafs were to get some scoring from more than the big 4, they would be 1st in the division. Need some tending and some scoring from others. Give that big tender a chance as well.
It's still kind of surreal that the Leafs beat Tampa last year. With Martin Jones playing the way he has, it's completely possible that they find success in the playoffs.
The only value I see in Nylander is as a trade chip, but since they didn't do that in the off-season before July 1st. Now they have to sign him fucking themselves for years to come. Cup not coming here this decade nor before 2035 at best. Look forward to regular season success with subpar defence and goaltending that crumbles in post season year after year, while the big 4 disappear like farts in the wind.

That Sharks team is pretty bad. Boring game, I keep switching to another channel. Let's not draw too many conclusions on that one. They won't meet this team in the playoffs.
So Nylander'a AAV will go up $4.5M plus AM's going up $1.6M. So, taking into account the cap increase, the team will have @M less to pay the rest of the team. So they will need a few more guys at league minimum. Not a winning formula in my books.

By giving Nylander a contract more valuable than Kucherov, Pastrnak, or Draisaitl basically guarantees in a cap era that you will NEVER win.
