For this not aware, Cal Foote was also a member of the 2018 juniors team.

Also Marino came out late so it’s only McLeod and Foote missing

Oh boy. Realistically our season would be really fucked without mcleod as well. Mercer can swap back to center, lazar has played center in Boston as well so he can center the 3rd and haula can move up to the 2nd.

This does not look good, but it sounds like we have to wait for the post-practice press conference to know for sure what’s up.

  4. toiletting

Uh fuck. But also if he was involved (as well as Foote) then fuck them.

Edit: They have Mercer working as center. Looks like they’re expecting to lose McLeod.

I imagine we’ll know for sure (or at least 99% sure) based on Lindy’s post game presser. If Lindy gives any other reason than ‘maintenance’, then you have to think the writing is on the wall for both of them.

Hoping it’s just the bug going around the team, expecting an update post practice

I’d say don’t overreact yet. Only Hart, Dube and Formenton have requested leave from their respective teams. Until a leave is requested, I’m not taking their absence as related to the 2018 assault.

Comtois, Batherson, Howden were also ones who never released statements

Edit: Both Foote and McLeod have requested leave from the team for an indefinite period according to the Devil’s Twitter account.

Marino is now on the ice but not Foote or McLeod.

So 3 teams have explicitly given players on that team leaves of absence (Calgary, Flyers, Ambri-Piotta in Switzerland), and 5 were charged.

IF all 3 of those teams know those players are getting charged (bit if an if but seems a strong possibility), there are 2 other players being charged. I’d be shocked if McLeod and Foote were the other 2 buuuuuuut it doesn’t look great, and even 1/2 would be terrible both from a human standpoint and from a sporting standpoint.

Please just have the bug that’s going around. Fuck him and fire him into the sun if he was involved, but he plays such an important role on this team. It would be a tough loss but I wouldn’t be sorry to see him go

Marino is on the ice now. So only missing McLeod and Foote.

  12. whichwitch9

Marino done dirty. He’s there, just late

What an awful tweet to get lumped in considering what’s going down today

  13. TediousSpark

Side note, just learned about Scott Stevens’ involvement in a similar-sounding thing in the late 80s. Just so disappointing.

May the victim find justice however this turns out.

I thought the signs were bad for McLeod from day 1. But I’m curious if there is any potential punishments for guys that weren’t involved in the incident but we’re aware of what happened (like accessory to crime/obstruction/whatever it’s called when you know what happened but don’t tell anyone).

But either way, it seems pretty clear something is happening soon. So hopefully we get some degree of closure on this.

  15. Mr7three2

Not great from an optics stand point

  16. Nodor10

Marino picked the worst possible day to miss practice

  17. Metboy1970

Really hoping McLeod and Foote were not in that room. Perhaps just being called to make a statement. Just an awful situation for that alleged victim and awful behavior from the young men involved if it all turns out to be true.

  18. poHATEoes

This is terrible news from a season standpoint, but I will die on this hill… I would rather lose the season and have them face justice (if guilty) than win with someone who was guilty but never faced justice. We are the God damn Devils, not the Blackhawks… we are a better organization and should strive to be above reproach.
