People saying we played well and it was definitely better, sure. But I thought Carolina were pretty poor by their standards and we should be taking advantage and winning that game.
Ultimately not good enough again and the playoffs are further away than they were pre-game.
There’s too much ground to make up and too many teams to leap over. Have to win games like these.
Gut wrenching loss. I just want the season to be over. This has been the season from hell.
It really sucks that’s the devils aren’t completely out of it because I’m hanging on to hope that they’ll be the panthers of last year and go on a run but at this point, it feels like loss hope. Not a bad game by any stretch but the end result just rips your heart out

Truly believe there is not a single goalie on an any NHL roster that is incapable of shutting this offense down. It’s just abysmal how they make everyone look world class

I have been liking the defensive effort since the All-Star break. They seem to have eliminated the epic defensive gaffes and giveaways. It’s probably too little too late but I still like what I see.
Too much focusing on the negative here. I feel better about this team after this game than before it.
I hate losing to canes, damn that hurts
If they play like that the rest of the season, they can make the playoffs

Look I have been down for a bit on this team but that game gave me some hope.
I’m not saying playoffs are a lock. I’m not saying this team deserves them. But mathematically it is not out of the question at all and performances like that show it’s possible.
I’ll take it. Play like this ever and you really can’t complain. Loss stings but there were a lot of great takeaways from this game.
I feel like they’ve changed up their defensive system since after the all star break. We’re doing a better job or crashing in front of our net, keeping pucks to the outside and clearing the crease of garbage.
they played well it just didn’t go in, in a vacuum this game wouldn’t really bother anyone, but given the context of the season, honestly, its irritating and disappointing.
Need 20-22 wins to make the playoffs. Time’s up folks. Barring a miraculous run this season is lost. Downvote me all you want you know it’s the truth.
Need to turn into sellers at the deadline. Let Toffoli go and give Holtz his ice time so he can develop and show what he’s got while he can build some chemistry with some top 6 guys. Be realistic. This team is going nowhere this year. I’m still optimistic about the next 5 years. I trust that Fitz will get Lindy the fuck out of here and get a consistent goalie
For everyone giving Lindy flowers for making defensive adjustments–why did it take him 50+ games into the season to do it? Our goalies have been trash from Day 1. It’s not like he didn’t know that they needed some extra help. And maybe in the interim our forwards could have learned how to score while playing a defense-centric game.
They played well, but they need to be consistent. We’ve been feeling good about a game only to be destroyed the next one. If we don’t string at least 3 well played games this is a fluke to me
Much like Lindy, I’m giving up on this team
Disappointing ending for sure, but hopefully the D continues that play.
We all know the potential of Luke and Nemec, but I feel like Big Bahl played a damn solid game and was quite noticeable laying some big hits.
He’s been up and down this year admittedly, but he showed the potential this game to be a big shutdown guy with a good slapper from the point. Maybe a little bias, love a good big dman, but he’s certainly part of our future core blue line.
The difference between us and Carolina was painted picture perfect in the OT. We’re very talented but even in 3 on 3, they meet us a lot closer to the blue line than we meet them. We sacrifice the middle ground so quickly that any bigger team that isn’t dog slow knows it will have more space than it should to operate. Still, overall this game was pretty good. I’d be happy with the point, if not for the fact that every point we miss means another game of streak we’ll need to dig ourselves out of point debt.
Timo Meier is -25 this year in 37 games played. Congratulations to everyone who bought a Timo jersey before he proved himself to the team. You played yourself.
Look at the standings people. We have GIH on Philly and Det. We’re not out of it — it just feels that way. We do need a heater but the three points in the last three games isn’t a disaster. It’s more how it went down.
Honestly that was a very enjoyable game and I’m happy about that. There’s no enjoyment for me to watch every game, win or lose, and just gripe about the bad things every time. I’ve decided I’m gonna go back to taking it game by game and looking at the positives, constantly watching the standings is gonna just stress me out unless we’re the #1 team in the league by 20 points, so no use in doing it.
We needed good goaltending and we got it. Played decent D too. Ton of back and forth without lots of stoppages, fun game to watch.
Finally a game where the D and goaltending show up and the offense doesn’t do shit. Kind of hilarious. It’s not over, but essentially it’s over. Enjoy the rest of the season just game by game
