My favourite are the people who say that Reilly didn’t mean to get his stick up like that. Just skated over to him and accidentally cross-checked his head… The mental gymnastics around this one should be up for at least a silver medal.
I used to feel like this before I read “Game change” by Ken Dryden. I think every fan should give it a read. You’ll gain a whole new understanding of why any hits to the head are fucked up.
