There's no reason to fire lindy or trade for a goalie at this point now..don't trade young players for a over the hill goalie who won't help anyway..dump as many of these mutts at the deadline that you can..get more picks and fire the entire staff at seasons end..this year is over..putting a band aid on a shotgun wound will do nothing.
I’m so done with our coaches. ALL of them. Especially Lindy the clown for blaming media for the teams terrible play. He must go!
I’m not going to comment on the game since I had to miss it today but can’t say I’m at all surprised based on the end result. I think we should be sellers and we need a change in coaching. Injuries suck, yes, but every team goes through it and even healthier now we are underperforming so it’s still not excuse: Lindy is one of two goalies top ten in wins all time to never get a cup as a coach. Hearing fans from other teams (like Dallas) say what we are going through is normal with Lindy’s systems is tough since they also say it took their best players years to start playing full defense after he left. Trade Toffoli and extend Mercer. I think they could use an upgrade on defense and coaching and that will make the goaltending survivable even if it’s average

Would take a really long winning streak for any playoff hope and the way the team has played that is extremely unlikely. 1996 level of disappointment this season.
The only concelation of this putrid season would be finally seeing Lindy Ruff run out of Jersey on a rail. Luke Hughes needs to be benched or sent down to regain his confidence. He is KILLING US.
The best goalie in the world wouldn’t stand a chicane in net with the lack of defense we play. The locker room is sick of Lindy and is evident in their lack of effort. Time for a coaching change even if it’s only an interim.
I think the coaching staff has just failed to prepare the team over and over again. The schedule is what it is, the media reports what it reports on. They come out flat and out of position constantly.
I know this year for our defense has the attitude of “just let the young guys play” but the system is just not clicking and/or there is no discipline.
Injuries have clearly been an issue but so has it been for other teams. It’s just part of the game. If the system worked then players could theoretically just plug in.
Not that this is really that relevant but remember when our roster of mostly ahl guys beat the islanders mostly nhl roster during the preseason under dineen? And the devils were undefeated? I wonder if that says more to dineen than lindy.
Trade Toffoli, buyout Vanecek, & get rid of all the $1,000 guys….we have about 3 mill in payouts coming off the books….offer sheet Swayman $10 million this summer and get a Radko Gudas type D-man. A new coach will play Holtz more and the goals will be there.
I totally agree with the comments about defense. Losing Severson and Graves has had a huge impact on the Devils. Then Dougie went down and there goes the PP. Luke and Simon are studs but they aren’t anywhere ready to carry such a heavy load. All of this spells no playoffs this year. They don’t need to buy or sell either.
PP is straight trash, this season is over, we need to sell and start looking at the draft, should look for a goalie in the summer.. there hasnt been 1 game this season they played 60, and that goes on the coaches.. Schmid looked good today, Daws has looked good since his return, but we better not trade our young guys for a 34 year old goalie, especially this season.. Lets go 24’-25’ could be ours..
We need force to be able to match we just got shooters anybody listening in the past 4 years should remember the shot drought or consistent ot losses in shootouts. Goaltending is shaky but everyone is learning with high steaks imo. There's now proof of some improvement but adjustments to hang still have to be made. It sucks to lose but learning and finding the parts is a process and too many people are ignoring the inconvenient consequences of building. I don't like loss but I appreciate improvement.
I don't think the Devils will make the playoffs this season. I predicted that before this season began.
Also, the Devils aren't firing Ruff because Jack Hughes likes him and wants him to stay.
Fitzgerald BLEW this season and Lindy has to be fired.

The rush has been figured out. The locker room has become too comfortable. To change the culture, they need a new coach who can hold players accountable, and that's not Lindy's M.O. Need a new coach. If Fitz can acquire a goalie, it is going to cost NJD someone you're attached to but that is the price that needs to be paid to address this issue. I am not expecting them to make the playoffs because even if they do, they will be taking a 1st round exit. Hit the reset button.
Bring in a Torts type coach. Someone who doesn't tolerate this type of play. Enough pampering.
“Must win” games were against Sharks , Ducks and Senators and we lost them all . Devils get outcoached in almost every game . I never liked Lindy , like him even less now .
honestly its both a year to sell and buy, but if im fitzy im doing both. some players are obviously untouchable. but i think for a guy like hanafin if it comes with an extension it makes sense or a goalie that has at least 2-3 years left on their contract that can be afforded id rather this happen in the offseason though, but also if you can move a player with no term left that can fetch a good return like toffoli to stock up on more assets that makes sense as well. but no deal at this point for the devils should be an overpay, we are not desperate for a goalie anymore for at least this season, and we need to make smart moves accordingly.
I really agree with your comments about needing some grit. We have no one. Nobody clears out the net. We get pushed around too much. Need some more size.
Ruff needs to be relieved of his coaching duties. He is clearly mismanaging the roster. Underusing players like Meier and Holtz and exhausting players like L. Hughes and Nemec. Timo started the game on the first line with Nico and Bratt and looked re-energized and was physically engaged. The line performed well together. additionally, Palat looked good in his more fitting role on the third line. Inexplicably (to me anyway), Meier doesn't see another shift in the first period after the !5:55 mark, and is demoted to the third line upon the start of the 2nd period. Palat moves back up to the 1st line and that line becomes ineffective. Conversely, the second line is basically untouched even though they were on the ice for all three EV strength Tampa goals. Nj records three shots on goal in the 3rd (2 by Bratt, 1 Marino). And the Holtz debacle is clearly been documented. As for Luke and Simon, Ruff is most definitely burning them out. Would it kill him to give them some rest? I mean why the hell did they sign DeSimone for? A change in NJ is clearly needed… by the way…adding a goalie now is futile with the defense playing the way it is. I'd expect Toffoli to be on the move soon if things stay status quo with coaching. They need 4 of 6 points on this westie.
