At what point do we (and by we i mean not me) stop putting Rielly on a pedestal? Everyone they pair him with, that guy sucks and the pair struggles, until that other guy gets away from Rielly and then miraculously they are good. At some point you have to figure out Rielly is not a good defenseman. He's an OK forward that lines up at defense but he's too offensively focused. He makes soooooo many bad choices. Short handed goal against last night was 100% on him pinching and giving up the break away. He rushes too much, pinches too much, makes desperate bad passes when he gets caught out of position too much. They need to start benching him or put him on a forward line and get an actual defenseman to play there.

I keep saying it, and I've been saying it for YEARS… The Leafs have been habitually mismatched ultimately because of the fans! Upper management is smart enough to keep the emphasis on PROFIT regardless of on-ice outcome. Matthews, Marner, Nylander….ALL of them – great for sales of shirts, tickets, and promotional ventures…but PROVEN over the past 6-seasons to be nothing more than paper tigers in the playoffs. So when it comes to trades, of course the Leafs will get rid of prospects…of course they'll get rid of draft picks….those things DON'T INCREASE PROFIT! Why have the Leafs seldom developed and played their own draft picks on the team? Why do they ALWAYS seem to pay former all-star players to come here for their final resting spot? Because that IS profitable by getting the masses on board with even more merchandise and ticket sales!!! And guess what folks? It works! Time and time again it works… the seats are packed… the merchandise is flying off the shelves… the fans keep asking for MORE trades for MORE ''big name'' talent. And so it goes. And so it goes…

Overall lubushkin is a great 6-7 guy and the salary retained make him perfect for that on a cap strapped team. Looking back on the tampa bay playoff series, Tampa bay loved it when he was on the ice, definitely a 0 offense but decentish at defence guy. If CJ is right and this isn't the last of moves overall a great pick up, if this is the only trade they make or even the only defensive move well it's just a waste of assets. Personally I don't think the trade is all that great but overall if it adds depth to a banged up leafs roster i cannot complain. Specially when its a player we already know and how they play.
