Gender equality would dictate that everyone who uses the bathroom has to manipulate the toilet seat a maximum of once! If it's down and you need it up do so. If it's up and you need it down you do so. There's no reason I have to prepare a toilet for an able bodied adult. If I have to touch a toilet seat twice they shouldn't get to vote.

Why is it rude to leave the seat up? A sitter will only fall in or get pee on their thighs if they forget to put the seat in the position they need. I've yet to hear an argument other than, "be nice to the ladies". I'm much more in favor of treating the sexes equally.

Leaving the seat up is the gentlemanly thing to do. I don't want my wife or sister or aunt to go into a bathroom and sit on a sit on a seat that multiple kids have dry rubbed piss into all day. That's gross. Keep the seat clean by keeping it up. If you're too lazy to look and see if the seat is up before you sit down and fall in, you're too lazy to see if it has piss all over it before you sit down. I know this because roughly one third of the times I use the bathroom, I sit, and I don't routinely sit in piss or fall in the fucking toilet, because I HAVE EYES. I personally believe women are smart and self-reliant enough to briefly glance at a seat before risking falling in a toilet or getting someone else's piss all over them. If you don't, please explain.
I agree with Greg. It’s just as easy to put the seat down as it is to put it up. As a man I’ve never fallen into the toilet when going number 2. Because I fully capable of looking before it sit. And putting the seat down if needed. That being said, I put the seat down every time for my wife
