As an Oilers fan, I do not understand Ken Holland obsession with Toronto Maple Leafs players. Since 2021 we have basically added 5 of them. Starting with Tyson Berrie, who was good for the Oilers .Now Zach Lyman was a fantastic acquisition. No complaints there. Cody CC has been OK at times. Jack Campbell is basically a good relief playoff goaltender. And Connor Brown is a player that’s not the same player that he was. At least we got a player and Sam carrick that knows his role. And oh yeah, played for the leafs at one point in his career.
Good pick ups by the Oil for sure. Carrick is former Marlie enforcer.

I think losing Sergachev for the season isn't sneaky, sneaky. But they are weaponizing the cap space which is just good hockey management.

Carrick was also 50% by ducks reported as well.
Both Henrique and Carrick are solid two-way forwards and Penalty killers too.

Oilers can't be done. They have 2 giant holes on the right side (TOP6 F and TOP4 D) and they just gotta fill one of them.

Watched Sam Carrick while he was with Anaheim's farm team in San Diego, and saw how he TORCHED the Condors as the Captain of the Gulls. I'd LOVE it if he was paper transactioned here for the deadline, even though I know he won't. This kind of snarl, hard to play against, and just kinda mean… That's EXACTLY what the Oilers bottom 6 needed.

I don't care what the stats say, but both Henrique and Carrick are MASSIVE upgrades over 2/3 of the Oilers bottom 6, and it's not even close. Their JFresh stats might look bad, but it's only because they played with a brutal Ducks team. What more did you expect. Huge win for the Oilers
Really hope the Oilers can make it to the promise land. Not personally a fan, but it’s about time after all that suffering their base has had to endure.

I dunno if I agree with you about the Oilers defense. Yes, it obviously breaks down sometimes but they all do that. Their problem this year is that the bottom 6 tends to fall apart whenever they see McDavid giving less than 200%. If he's not on fire then no one is. Well, except for Hyman but he's a freakin' machine. lol (Yeah, thanks to the Leafs for not recognizing what you had in that guy. 🙂) I really believe that the problem with the Oilers is psychological because they have the best player in the world and that means the other players naturally and maybe even unconsciously follow him. They have to learn to to get up and lead themselves when he's having an off day instead of just following the leader off the cliff. Or maybe their leader just needs to be more vulnerable and tell them he's having an off day and ask them to step up? I don't know but I do know psychology, especially team psychology, is a big part of winning.
Henrique for 25 cents on the dollar Carrick 50 cents on the dollar. Can't believe Kenny got 75% and 50% retained. Leaves him with a little cap space to try for a defender if he can find a deal.
ouch a 1st rounder for Henrique, standard Kenny Holland stuff, trade away all the 1st rounders then have no pipeline. He did it with Detroit and they haven't been to the playoffs in 8 years. Watch out Edmonton, you don't win your next decade will look like Detroit's last ten years.

Sam has more points than every bottom 6 oiler? That Chris guy didn’t show his numbers on purpose and yea he’s on the ducks. He can skate he’s gonna learn the defensive first and support system in their end and he’ll be good to go

the difference between the ducks and the leafs is that the fans in Anaheim get to watch a team that wont be in the playoffs for cheap and the leafs will get in to make it to the first round only for a whopping cost. at the end of the day both teams suck and one cost more than the other to watch it

The part of me that wants to see good people get their name on the Stanley Cup is happy for Henrique and Carrick.
The part of me that is a Ducks fan is happy with the picks we received but confused about why Edmonton also got a 7th in this deal.
Meanwhile, the part of me that JUST ordered a custom San Diego Gulls #25 Sam Carrick jersey – complete with captain’s “C” – needs a hug.
