    My guess is this is to deter teams from making a flyer claim on him on so if it doesn’t work out they would be on the hook for 2 more years taking up a contract spot.

    Sounds like it’s a one-way deal too. I think that’ll be the biggest deterrent for other teams to claim him. I’m probably looking to deep into this but are they expecting him to replace Englend or be the 7th D next year since it’s a one way deal going for two years?

    Just getting solid AHL / potential future third liners signed for some term at the min to prevent waiver claims

    At just above league min I wonder if this even is much of a deterrent. If he works he’s in a team friendly deal for a couple of years. If not then he can be cut for not much of a loss.
