I don’t think anyone should feel good about this trade. The return isn’t inspiring to say the least and it’d be surprising if these picks got us over the hump in acquiring a top tier goalie. If Toffoli was likely to walk in the off-season it’s better to get something if you truly think you won’t make the playoffs, but if these picks don’t turn into something major later today, it’s not going to feel good. No fan wants to see the GM making offseason moves before the current season ends.
All this tells me is that Sharangovich was wasted.

Why are people upset we didn’t get a first on essentially a rental? Like it’s a L because it shows Fitz and the organization wrecked this season, but still not sure how Toffoli nets a first when you still have to give him a contract.

People are so mad about the return, I don’t see it. We effectively traded Shango, who we got in the 5th round, for a 2nd. Could we possibly have paid less for Toffoli to begin with? Maybe? Personally, I’m much more comfortable starting Timo, and possibly Holtz in his spot. I have huge respect for Tyler but we’re not making the playoffs. Why on earth wouldn’t we want draft picks for a player we can’t use? You guys do know we can trade those picks for players later..?
