Look, I like the Oilers and enjoy watching them and I’d be happy if they won the cup, but the fact that they’ve got the best odds right now is mind boggling, and makes me wonder about how smart these odds really are.

I’m an Oilers fan and am already tired of this nonsense. The Oilers team D, actual D and goaltending are not elite. They’re just not. They’re not in the same class as Florida, Carolina, Vancouver. It’s not happening.
People hate Edmonton so hard when we’re losing, and even more so when we have moderate success. So much has to fall our way to win the cup despite our obvious deficiencies. All this does is put an even larger target on our back.
The Oilers are a top 10 team. Maybe. But cup favorites? Piss off. That is not a serious argument.

I’d love if the Oilers won the Cup, but tbh, I don’t see how they beat teams like Florida or Colorado in a best of 7 series. Maybe they make conference finals, idk. They’re just too inconsistent. McDavid can carry games on his back, but that’s no guarantee of a win. Maybe this is where Corey Perry will shine for them and be the difference maker this time.
