  1. Penguins play the Red Wings, Devils, CBJ, CBJ, Devils, Capitals, Lightning, Red Wings, and Islanders. If the Pens beat the teams above them they have a chance to make it. 3 point games between the teams above them will hurt the Pens. The Pens can make it if they get the power play going and Sidney Crosby goes on a point streak.

  2. Mikael Granlund: 52GP/9G/33A/42pts (.81points-per-game)
    Evgeni Malkin: 65GP/19G/31A/50pts (.77points-per-game)
    Erik Karlsson: 65GP/8G/37A/45pts (.69points-per-game)
Karlsson: 37A, Granlund: 33A, Crosby 33A, Malkin 31A, Letang 31A. Yep Granlund is passing at a "CORE" level without Sullivan.
    Lars Eller: 65GP/12G/10A/22pts

  3. The way the Pens tie games , it's fantasy to think that the pens make the playoffs . I'm tired of the crying about Jake . Everybody wants a coaching change .

  4. It won't matter about the young guys getting playoff experience . They will just get traded away for some washed up 35 year old anyway .

  5. DK, I know this is all hypothetical talking about the Pens making the playoffs and the young guys getting experience but, that’ll never happen with this group. San Jose and Columbus are the only 2 teams we’ve beat in the last 3 weeks… Just embarrassing.

  6. They say one thing, then play another. If they keep playing the way they’ve been they will be lucky to win five more games.

  7. If the Sharks were any good, it would have been 6-0, but they couldn’t do anything with the Pens’ chronic turnovers.

  8. Pens have been trying a different puck management system. Pass to no one, pass to the other team’s tape, pass to the guy’s skates, pass out beyond reach, pass into 6 pairs of legs across open ice, pass like the puck is invisible to the other team. They SUCK.

  9. Them possibly making the playoffs due to somehow everyone in front of them suddenly playing impossibly worse, is like getting a spot because of forfeit or irreparable tragedy. Sorry, not excited. Don't care one bit.

  10. Crosby managed to accidentally get a second helper on that 6th goal. I'm sure it was unintentional. Don't worry Sid, Jake won't hold it against you.

  11. One thing I noticed is that there was absolutely no emotion whatsoever from the players. None. Even when they scored go ahead goals, nothing.

  12. I think that is what makes me laugh, I know this team is not a playoff team, but the fact of how inconsistent they have been, trading Guentzel, and still are five points out of a playoff spot.

I just makes you wonder if this team was consisent and had an average PP, where would they be in the standings right now?

  13. If you want the Pens to make the playoffs, you're actively hoping for a worse draft pick.

Either they miss and get a better pick, or they make it, get bounced immediately, and the pick is worse.

  14. Only 5 points to make the playoffs dk, only? The pens have gotten only 5 points since feb 29. 5 points feels like it might as well be 50 points back. I hope I'm wrong, but i don't think so

  15. I agree DK. The last thing the team needs right now is negativity. I hope they make the playoffs ! Great show DK

  16. Pens in the playoffs = participation trophy. I don't think it is about the 5 points..It's about if the Pens can play quality hockey on a fairly consistent basis and it's hard to think they can just based on a general eye test.

  17. It would be good to make the playoffs but the most important thing is to get younger and stop giving up draft picks. This organization got lucky to win the last 2 cups. If they had done more via the draft, they would have won 2 more cups. It's a terrible culture that started back in the Mario days. Signing vets. Bad idea. It's a sin that this organization has had the greatest talent in the league and only won 5 cups. Yes. I said it.. only 5. Surround your elite guys with young legs… Not with vets and free agents.

  18. The Pens are more than in this and need to stop pitying themselves and whining they lost Guentzel. Bunting is absolutely a viable replacement (though he's not Jake calibre). They need to picture it as Jake is out for the year and they got Bunting at the deadline.. they have a ridiculous amount of talent on paper to get this done. Not to mention, if somehow they get back into this, they have the first tiebreaker over the Isles and Wings (as of now)!

  19. The Pens are only competitive against the other non-playoff NHL teams. Next four games (against playoff-bound teams) will continue to reaffirm why Pens are not making the post season.

  20. I am not mad at Crosby….he has earned an unlimited amount of mulligans. Sully and management hasn't. I want the Penguins to tank and get a Top 5 pick that should allow the Penguins to retool and make a run with Crosby next year

  21. Hire me for the rest of the year as a part timer and I will deliver the message to Sully. Be forewarned it will be in a very direct manner as Sgt Nielson not nice guy GM. Honestly, Sully is a great coach but his time with the Penguins has come to past and they need a new one…if they would have got a new coach last year…the Penguins wouldn't be in this mess

  22. Don't. Just don't give fans hope, because it might end up as heartbreaking as last season.

  23. Watching Drew O'Connor clearly head and shoulders being the one (and maybe only) guy giving max effort right now just underscores how much this team just needs an injection of youth. They don't even need to be organizational changing young players … O'Connor certainly isn't … just add like 5-6 players who are just out there playing hockey for no other reason than they want to be out there playing hockey. But man, there are just way too many 30+ year old passengers out there just collecting a paycheck on this roster. That's the problem with being old … it's not that they're "slow" … it's that they can take it or leave it at this stage of their careers. And there are too many of them.

  24. "If they had just been decent instead of 1-6-1, theyd already be in a comfortable playoff spot." Uhhh, no, so, 4-3-1 for example would have them in a playoff spot by one point. That's not "comfortable." So it's not just that everybody is mad, it's that everybody sees that they're behind.

  25. Last year the panthers weren’t supposed to make the playoffs but they did and they had a great run. Never say never

  26. The Florida Panthers would squashed them in 4 😂 and it wouldn’t even be close. remember that Boston series in the conference finals something similar to that it would be embarrassing
