A won today all but eliminates Washington. Let’s start shortening the list of opponents, then continue doing so into Pittsburgh on Thursday

today starts the most important stretch of Red Wings hockey in the LCA era

    >Arise, arise, skaters of Yzerman!
net shall be shaken, stick shall be splintered
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!

Both teams are fighting for their season in this game.. should be a good one.

Also gotta root for the Rangers over NYI and the Canadiens over the Flyers. O6 night?

A win today and an islanders loss will put us in a much more comfortable spot for the wild card. Let the metro teams fight for their 3rd place spot.

Win these next 2 and we are in. Make it happen boys

We need debrincat to step up. This is his time to shine.

May the spirit of Gordie Howe be in every Red Wing tonight.

These next 2 games will determine the season at minimum we need 3 points with the win coming in regulation

Win both in regulation and we’re in the drivers seat for WC2 heading into the final week of the season

Last week the VA gave me 100% disability after 4 years of fighting for it. Today I woke up to a stupid amount of backpay in my account. I think the wise thing to do is take a week off work and fly home to MI to follow the boys around for the next five games.

I just wanna shout-out my family for sticking with me throughout this stretch. My mental has been all over the place, but nothing like the gymnastics it’ll be doing this week
    May God bless their soul.

Those other teams fighting for their playoff lives need to feel our skate on their throats (metaphorically speaking, of course)…they need to feel like they CANT mess up, or they’ll be killing their playoff chances. Conversely, the wings need to show more urgency, as if they actually WANT to play their first post season game in front of a rabid fan base for the first time at LCA.

I really want to break out the car flags for the playoffs. Make it happen, boys!

  14. It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited/nervous about watching hockey in April. It would be an awesome birthday present this year if the Wings could make the playoffs.

At least they won in OT, but wow the Leafs have continued to be nearly useless when you need any help from them.

This game better not be on NHLN….or I’ll end up watching the Czech feed again I guess.

I keep hearing it periodically mentioned that Metro teams have a slight « advantage » in that they’re fighting for two playoff spots and we’re only fighting for one. I’m sure there’s some math to figure this out, but based on the playoff likelihood percentages, I’m not sure this is really that functionally advantageous. Sure, two of the Metro teams could make it, but there are four and maybe even Fringe five or six theoretically pushing for points, and many of them play each other at least once for the end of the season and huge point swing games.

While we only have one slot to aim for, we have fewer games against competing rivals and likely less points chipping away at our opportunities for WC2. I would assume this is why prediction models seem to give us a favorable percentage when teams are very tight in standings points, despite the fact that we have long been trailing in the first tiebreaker of regulation wins. Especially since the games remaining is so similar for teams at this point.

Just reinforces how immensely huge the points tonight and on Thursday really are for us. I would imagine if we walk away with three out of four points and at least one regulation whe win, we give ourselves full control heading into Montreal.

    Anyway, LGRW!

Since people still don’t seem to understand this, let me repeat it.

It doesn’t matter for qualifying for the playoffs that we are « only » fighting for the second wildcard. We still need to beat 3 teams out of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Washington and the islanders. Just like everyone else of those teams.

All 5 of these teams needs to beat 3 other teams.

It does matter for playoffs seeding. We can only be the second wildcard team. The other 4 teams in the metro can also get the 3:rd metropolitan seed.
