Because its hockey and hockey is by far the least predictable team sport around.
Doubt many of us would have bet our savings account the jets would sweep the oilers in round 1 of the short season… but hey turns out we should have.
Avs on paper are amazing, jets lineup is insanely deep and can be the best team in the league if they hit their stride.
It’ll be a great series, I don’t predict it will be a short one either
Hot take, but I can guarantee the Jets beat the Avs if they score more goals by the end of regulation (or even OT for that matter) than them in 4 of the 7 games.
Two words: Connor Hellebuyck
If we keep turning pucks over in the neutral and d zone it will be a very short series!
We need to activate 2018 Playoff Scheifele. Dude was balls to the fucking WALL against Nashville, he was disgustingly good
« The Winnipeg Jets could beat the team they’ve already beaten both times they saw them in the regular season. »
What is even the opposite of this argument? The Jets *could* beat anyone.

He presents this take like this is a surprise to people when it really shouldn’t be.
its pro sports in the playoffs… anything can happen
remember LA a few years ago?
I was thinking about this again briefly after, the team has played well, powerplay has improved and every single team is playing their best hockey and they’ve managed to turn around a slump at the end of the season when its the absolute hardest time to win games – this does not happen if the entire team is not playing well and when you’re playing other professional athletes, they will get their chances and they will burn you from time to time.
You want my honest take on the jets for the playoffs? They are good enough to beat the avs, and I actually would not be totally shocked if they did, what concerns me is that the real problem with this team has always been complacency.
They can rise to enormous occasions – beating the preds in 7 games, tons of epic comebacks that I can remember, winning games they were outplayed, sweeping the oilers etc.
What concerns me is round 2 after they rise to an occasion, this team always has a tough time getting that attitude back, and teams can make them look bad when theyre off their game.
Championship teams have a « all business » on the ice attitude, and the jets can get there, but the winners can keep that composure the entire postseason, or, if they lose it, they dont panic, and get it back, when the jets have it, they could easily win it all, but they have a hard time getting it back when theyre shaken up a bit.
I don’t think I can recall a team that can look so great when firing on all cylinders and playing with effort, then so bad the next period with lazy fly-bys, piss poor decisions, breakouts/turnovers and crappy checking.
It’s really puzzling seeing these two extremes… especially later in the season. I think that’s why Bones gets so mad cause he knows they have the talent.
I think they will beat Colorado.
Of course nobody can predict shit in hockey.
These next 2 games might be the biggest regular season games in 2.0 history. 1. Send a message Jets are back. 2.Get home ice advantage as massive underdogs. Aves will be huge favorites. Hope the boys can rise to the challenge.
