  1. Letang was responsible for three goals scored in the Penguins Wings game. Unfortunately, two of those were scored by Detroit.

  2. Rangers lost to the Flyers. The door is wide open for them to slip from #1 seed to the #3 seed. And they have the red hot Isles next. I’ve tried to remain patient but I just don’t like the inconsistency with Mika, Kreider, and player du jour. Since Buchnevich was traded that line has NEVER been the same. I dunno how you win the Stanley Cup without that line clicking. Maybe a miracle happens and the Rangers find the spirit of 2013-14 post season and will themselves to the Finals. And if that happens I’ll be happy to be wrong. For now, trepidation.

  3. refs gave the win to the pengs last night that first goal shouldnt of counted at all the pengs player was in the crease and his skate was hitting lyons pad thats goalie interferance but i guess that buttmen paid them triple to give the pengs the win

  4. As a Wings fan I'm just trying to remember that we weren't even expected to be playing meaningful game past March this year. The way the streakiness happened made it more emotional and probably gave some hollow hope, but we'd all be looking at draft prospects by now in previous years.

I love that Raymond, Larkin, and Seider have shown they are capable of showing up in these big games, even if it isn't always on the score sheet. DeBrincat's scoring has been underwhelming lately, but he diligently forechecked last night and it led directly to a goal, something I never thought he would really do. It's not over yet, but I'm still happy with the progress we've made.

  5. Pretty frustrating when Buffalo and New Jersey are already eliminated, despite having more wins than most of the teams in the wild card race above them in the standings. The difference is simply the OT loss column. Teams above Buffalo and New Jersey lose more in OT than them, when they really are more even than the standings would suggest.

  6. Your power pay quote cracks me up, does the power play suck yep. Even as a die hard Flyers fan even makes laugh out loud. It’s so bad I have to laugh or I would just cry

  7. Ehlers got his 200th goal? I was wondering why Monahan quickly changed direction to grab the puck. It's great that Monahan was aware like that, showing he's a great team mate. I can only hope the Jets keep him and Toffoli around for a few more seasons as they've clearly made the Jets a better team.
    GO JETS GO!!!

  8. Most important stretch of the season: Caps lose 7 of 8 and lose twice to Buffalo

Yup, those are my Capitals !

  9. While I'm not a Flyers fan, it would be hilarious to watch the Caps, Red Wings, and Isles crash, and Philly survive. I also have a hunch that the Rangers kinda want the Flyers in the hunt, as they may think it might make things easier on themselves down the road.

  10. The Rangers are collapsing they will be out the first round and quickly also. 5 games they can not score 5 on 5. The Rangers are history.

  11. If the Sabres can at least win their final two and hit 40 wins, it'll be the first time they've had two 40+ win seasons back to back since the beginning of the drought, so… Some sort of silver lining…. I guess.

  12. THG's hockey nights get lighter, while "normies" like me will probably be watching a lot more hockey than usual in a couple of weeks.

  13. Sorry Shanny, we miss the original goal call for LA. Done by the great Dave Courtney. "LOS ANGELES GOAL!!.." and he'd add effectivities, like "A power play goal!" Or "A shorthanded goal"

  14. Detroit winning 5 of their last 20 games makes it apparently clear they do not belong in the playoffs. This team still needs a lot of work.

  15. Awful game by the Rangers, but the most unforgivable part was Hathaway with the high skate on Quick and he didn't get a beating. Dangerous play that should be addressed.

  16. It's highly unlikely that the Avs or Jets grab the central, unless Dallas loses their last 2 and either of them win their last 3, but I do like the Jets chances at holding the 2nd spot for home ice advantage…they already hold the tiebreaker, and if they can beat Colorado tomorrow, it strengthens their standings even more.

  17. So many good teams in the playoffs. 😮‍💨 We can't decide who to root for!

  18. By the end of next season Matthews will likely be the Leaf's all-time highest goal scorer in around 300 games less than Sundin. That's what's impressing me at the moment.

  19. Cooley deserves some credit for that Sharks win, he absolutely robbed the Kraken at least a dozen times.

  20. 27:09 For me it's always "Nikita Kuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuchhhhhhhhhhhhh…..erov" and that echo at the arena, damn.

  21. Hi THG, got a question about Player Safety from a rangers fan. Curious if there’s inconsistency like this with other teams and other incidents… but I’ll try to ask concisely… why do they set no standards for enforcement (fines and suspensions after the game – not penalties) around hits to the head? Trouba hits Frederick in the head and gets fined and suspended. Rempe hits Seigenthaler in the head and gets fined and suspended. Pelech sets up a pick on Zibanejad and clips his head. Hathaway kicks Quick in the head with his skate (similar move to Matt Petgrave on Adam Johnson last fall-and got him charged with manslaughter). Accidental or not, why doesn’t player safety have an enforcement standard? Does this inconsistency happen with other teams or are they just unlucky moments? Sure I’m protective of players on the team I follow but wouldn’t everyone in the league benefit from reminding players to be responsible for their actions intentional or accidental? Accidents happen but a precedent helps communicate some accidents are not acceptable for the safety of the sport?
Could also be useful for boarding and vulnerability. I think Brian Boyle said he’d like to see a fine assessed to players who leave themselves open to dangerous boarding hits as well as players who finish the check. Encouraging players to preserve the physicality of the sport by being responsible for “protecting yourself at all times?” Just seems like an easy thing to be consistent on and inconsistency sends a weird message – Some hits to the head are acceptable as long as they didn’t look too intentional… would love your thoughts

  22. Say whatever you want about Matthews and his 68 goals…he's not capable of carrying a team like Crosby is.
They're both great players, but Crosby is simply on an entire other level.
