For everyone using words/phrases such as "Vegas cheaters", "faking injuries", "intentional LTIR cap circumvention", etc…here's some simplified enlightenment for you…
The NHL (National Hockey League) does indeed consider Long-Term Injured Reserve (LTIR) during the playoffs. When a player is placed on LTIR, it means they are sidelined due to a significant injury for an extended period. Here’s how the NHL handles it:
1) Investigation and Verification:
Whenever a player’s projected return date aligns with the playoffs, the NHL investigates the situation. The league collaborates with clubs, reviews medical records, and even consults independent medical experts to verify the legitimacy of the injury.
2) NHL’s Stance:
The NHL’s stance on LTIR has evolved. While initial thoughts were given to addressing the issue, the league later determined that no immediate action was necessary.
Any changes to cap rules would require involvement from the NHL Players’ Association (NHLPA), as it’s a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) issue.
In summary, the NHL actively monitors LTIR cases, especially when projected return dates coincide with playoff periods, and strives to maintain fairness and integrity in the game.

Wright also gets more playtime going to Coachella than he does staying up in the NHL right now. They're going to the playoffs and he was a huge contributor to getting them there in the first place.
I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but this is so obviously a cap cheat by Vegas. You can't ex-spleen it differently. It's not enough for teams in tax haven states like Nevada and Florida to have a built in 20-30% cap advantage they have to in-your- face cheat the system as well.
I think its not unlikely that Stone is actually still hurt but going to play anyway
The Habs will have to make some decisions soon with respect to defense. The Hockey Junkie pointed out that it would be good to pair Hutson with Savard for the last 2 games of the season. Then, you have a few players in Laval who are ready for prime time. Look for some trades on draft day. The Habs need some big forwards who can produce and they have D-men to spare.
Frank Seravelli is now highly suggesting that Vegas is lying about injuries to circumvent the cap.

VGK flips off the salary cap every year. Stone has a legitimate injury every year. I would speculate that any long term veteran in the NHL has a lingering long term injury. Can't wait to destroy them in the first round! Go STARS!

Disclaimer I’m an Oilers fan, that being said I promise this comment is 99.9999999% non bias.
IMO the LTIR loophole is a great example of “don’t hate the player hate the game” here the player is the teams and the game is the NHL rules.
I don’t fault teams for using LTIR within the rules and loop holes. That fault lies on the NHL and NHLPA for not figuring out a “better system” (if there really even is one)
What I do fault the teams for (before this year I only faulted the lighting not Vegas) is “magically” having LTIR line up with the start of playoffs. For example, the Lightning playing Kuzy for part of the season KNOWING (allegedly) he was banged up and would need surgery and just happened to have him on LTIR for said surgery in a time frame that would get him back at or near the start of playoffs.
That was really the only one that’s gotten to me as “scummy”. As an oilers fan I haven’t loved what VGK have done with LTIR last few years, but haven’t faulted them specifically. When they placed Stone on LTIR I low key defended them seeing as how it seemed major and season ending(ish). I know he isn’t playing yet and hasn’t actually played game 1 of round 1, however this is really shaping up to be (in my opinion) another “scummy” move of “let’s wait on this rest/surgery/recovery until it lines up better cap wise for us”
All of this to say, I’m not too mad at Vegas rn but I’ll be more butthurt with them and the league if Stone plays games 1/2 of round 1 because that will really seem like a big middle finger to the rule book loophole once again.
I am not saying Kuzy or Stone isn’t/wasn’t injuries nor am I saying they as players wanted to do it this way. As of now my butthurtness is/will be directed at the organization and league.
As of now I don’t have any plausible idea how to fix/guard against this so I apologize for complaining without offering any sort of solution

Spleen lacerations are 3-6 months…. he wasnt out 2 months… I like Vegas's chances ~ but I hope they don't play my Oilers in the 1st round. Playoffs are such a different urgency than the regular season… if the Knights were to win another cup who would be surprised?

When Stone went on LTIR there were 16 OTHER teams technically over the cap during the same time. Also. A lacerated spleen is no joke. But on day 1 of the playoffs he will have been out for 61 days. Average healing time for that is between 50 and 70 days depending on if there was surgery.
I like the idea that if a player is on ltir and misses game 82, they are ineligible for the first round of the playoffs

You think he was legitimately injured? What evdience do you have for that? An internal organ injury is about the easiest thing to make up.
