I’m getting a lot more mileage outta Dead Wings fan-base rage than I ever thought possible.

  2. YoungFalco

Morgan Frost getting 8 mins TOI and Hathaway 17 mins TOI when offense was dry in a must win game is borderline fireable for torts imo

  3. Steinburger_

All the Detroit fans coming in and blaming the Flyers for not helping you get into the playoffs is something.

Maybe should have told your team to not lose to the Coyotes, Senators, Blue Jackets, and Sharks. Would have comfortably made the playoffs.

Despite the late season collapse and all the off-ice drama I thoroughly enjoyed that season Flyers hockey. Lots of positives to take away, especially in the development of most of our younger players. The new regime did an excellent job in re-building that bridge with the fanbase. That can obviously change over the summer and the next year, but I felt like this was a solid B+ effort from Danny B & Co. Excited to see what he does over the summer and with those two 1st round picks. As always, Let’s Go Flyers & FTP!

  5. Emotional_Draft_1457

Detroit in here like they didn’t just almost blow it to the fucking tanking Habs twice..

  6. Dont worry Wings fans, if you wrap Larkin in bubble wrap next year you’ll probably make it to the playoffs.

  7. mydogsnameiskendrick

Don’t smile because it’s over, cry because it happened

  8. FlyersTime

Lost your first number 1 goalie in decades, a top five prospect in the NHL, and choked an 86% chance of making the playoffs after your GM stated you were in rebuild and he didn’t trade for any assets. Can’t wait to draft some more mediocre prospects who don’t turn into anything or refuse to play for us. Flyers are in like year 15 now of refusing to lose properly and never winning anything. Fuck the Philadelphia Flyers.

  9. Emotional_Draft_1457

The Detroit and penguins fans in here crying have actually helped me cope quite quickly with this loss. Better draft pick and better future!! Get fucked losers!

don’t smile because cry, it’s over because it happened

  11. Nixorbo

As someone to whom 1997 was a formative year, taking Pittsburgh **AND** Detroit down with us is a damn pretty silver lining.

  12. elentiyaa

it’s over. they can’t hurt us anymore…or for like 5 months idk when the new season starts

  13. hatylotto

12th spot— hopefully someone from the top 10 falls to us

  14. shinyRedButton

The Flyers Curse is real. Change my mind.

  15. Emotional_Draft_1457

Does no one remember where we projected this team to be at the beginning of the season or are all of you just tuning in to the flyers for the first time? This team over performed incredibly

  16. BrinkOfFTP

It doesn’t need justifying or explaining why you pull the goalie anyway. You just look like a loser who’s giving up for the night if you don’t.

If I hired a coach who did that, I’d fire the bum out the door no matter how good his record was.

  17. Usual-Personality347

Wings fan here, I know you needed us to lose to, but I saw the missed calls and the called back goal. You deserved your win. All love and best of luck next season

  18. Was at the Phils game tonight which was sick, but seeing the season end like this stings.

If you would have told me before the season started that we’d be fighting for a playoff spot, I would have been pumped. Hate to see it end the way it but that being said, I’m super excited for what the future holds.

  19. FlyersTime

Imagine if the Flyers just tanked like the Oilers did for all those years. We’d be watching McDavid and Draisaitl right now in the playoffs. What have the Flyers accomplished since 2010 anyway? This once great franchise has truly turned into one of the biggest jokes in professional sports. Almost fourteen years of suffering with no end in sight.

  20. cloud12348

Torts said fuck it I’m taking the pens and the wings down with me lmao

  21. ArcanumAntares

I’m still cracking up at a single empty net goal terminating three teams’ playoffs hopes.  That’s fucked, it needs some kind of name.

  22. Wekilledit88

Apparently Laughts was very emotional in the postgame interview. I hope it’s not his last game here. Fuck me.

  23. Wings fan here, don’t let our bad apples make you think we’re all assholes. Our own fault we needed to rely on you guys anyway

  24. Perryplat199

Flyers fans20 minutes ago: thanks for ruining our playoff spot Detroit :/

Red wings fans now: thanks for ruining our playoffs flyers :/

Almost like both team could have just won more games and none of this would have mattered.

  25. I’m honestly shocked at the amount of people who have a bad outlook for this team. I sat and listened for Hextall’s entire regime when we went through 10 game losing streaks, got manhandled in the playoffs by the caps, blew multiple leads in an elimination game against the Pens, that it was all part of the process and we’d be fine in 2-3 years. Yet there was never any meaningful progress from that group of young players.

Meanwhile, a team that *clearly* overperformed this season and just ran out of steam at the end is a ‘joke’ and has a ‘bleak’ future? Wild.

There was more meaningful progress made this year than probably the last 10 combined. A few that stuck out:

    * Foerster had a legitimate Calder worthy campaign.

    * Tippett (maybe not as young), but showed seriously incredible skating and shooting skill. Something we really needed and haven’t had in a long time.

    * York. Can’t say enough good things. Feel like he flew under the radar because he eats minutes like a tank. Guy has an incredibly bright future.

    * Drysdale still has some work to put in but at 21 I’m not really too concerned.

    * Konecny looked like a true leader this year. Noticeable on the ice every night.

    * Ersson showed a ton of promise in a massive bout of adversity. Outside of a few clunkers I thought he generally played pretty well.

I could keep going on but you get the gist.

There’s a legitimate chance that next year we aren’t as good. And that’s part of a rebuild. As long as we keep seeing individual progress that is good. We have 2 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders this year.

Lastly, the intangibles. It was pretty fucking clear that this team played hard night in and night out. There wasn’t many games where much was left to be desired on the ice, atleast up until the losing streak. You knew you were getting efford every night. That is so fucking important to a hockey team.

I (along with many people here) spent the past few years irate at this team. I can’t say I’m happy with how this year ended, but I certainly think this team is headed in the right direction.

  26. A_Stickman_Jr

Was honestly expecting the be eliminated in an overtime win. Not sure if losing on an empty net is as funny. Oh well

  27. Okay, I’ve taken 20. Phil Flyer that was a great read. Never do it again, please I am tired of it. I’d like you to expand your horizons and write a Hero’s Journey that begins next year. May his name be Michkov who arrives in the third year of the Briere Reign.

My hockey team should not resemble magnum opus tragedies, please help.

  28. _dagg3rs

I just want to say if your playoff chances banked on a team fresh off an 8-game losing streak then you probably weren’t going to win the cup anyway

  29. FlyersTime

I hope Cutter Gauthier turns into a perennial fifty goal scorer for a decade.

  30. Wekilledit88

Kinda wild people are still hung up on us not trading Laughton for a first round pick lol. No team was offering that compensation for him. Even around the league there were better forwards than Laughton that were traded for less than a first rounder. You guys need to let that shit go.

  31. mxjxs91

Wings fan here too. You guys did what you needed to do. You scored 2, and there wouldn’t have been an empty net for them to get their 2nd goal on.

« We are blind and didn’t see the puck » is such a stupid brain dead reason to wave a goal off, and just reiterates that refs are indeed blind.

Really hoped it would either be us or you guys, even said it during the (Wings) game thread. Fuck the Caps, hopefully we can all enjoy seeing them get wiped out in the 1st round.

  32. FlyersTime

Red Wing fans your future is bright don’t feel bad at least your not a Flyers fan. Yzerman has an actual clue and they didn’t hire Torts to lead a rebuild.

  33. Aussie-the-Hedgehog

Does anyone know why Brink and Frost were benched? I didn’t see if it was deserved

  34. Magoatt

Within the next week I’m deleting this account, its better off if I’m gone, that means the Flyers won’t fall apart anymore along with better hockey quality.

  35. BrinkOfFTP

What was the « next question » ??

I thought I heard the word disloyal

  36. FxStryker

That might be one of the worst collapses to a season ever. We had like 15 points in hand on everyone we just lost out to.

  37. FlyersTime

Chicago won a cup went on a rebuild and have a brighter future than the Flyers. Hurricanes won a cup went on a rebuild and have a brighter future than the Flyers. Rangers won a cup and went on a rebuild and have a brighter future than the Flyers. Kings won a cup and went on a rebuild and have a brighter future than the Flyers. Ducks won a cup and went on a rebuild and have a brighter future than the Flyers. The Red Wings won a cup and went on a rebuild and have a brighter future than the Flyers. The Flyers sucked back then and they still fucking suck. Can’t wait to add the Penguins to the list as the Flyers continue to suck the fuck.

  38. Emotional_Draft_1457

I’m the biggest flyers fan that I personally know and I’m sure a lot of you are too… I guarantee not one of you would have taken a 100-1 bet at the beginning of the season that this team would make the playoffs. The flyers fans in here crying and saying this team is cursed.. I simply refuse to believe you’re a knowledgeable or seasoned flyers fan.

This team showed a lot of bright spots and progress in the right direction. I’m personally pumped but I still know we’re still a few years away and need a couple more big pieces to fall in the right direction.

The future is bright.. but I also thought that in 2020, 2010 and 2005. We’ll see..

  39. Blinsin

*lets their ban hammer thunk onto the ground*

    I am so tired

  40. EmoGothPunk

In defense of the Flyers, a good chunk of Washington are 2023 Calder Cup champions. Hell, one of the assists was one of those guys.

  41. SethPutnam2

Can we shoot Rocky Thompson into the fucking Sun yet?

  42. FxStryker

I also want to add, while the skaters look promising the biggest weakness we have, AGAIN, is that we don’t have a goalie.

  43. Bhut_Jolokia400

The only consolation in all of this is watching the Yinzers and Detroit fans drowning in their tears

  44. FlyersTime

The only consolation of knowing the Flyers will never win another Stanley Cup is knowing 86% of you in here will never be happy again and that’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. 😂

  45. jlando40

It feels worse to be eliminated like this then to be a miserable lottery team

  46. CanSome169

I can’t wait to see the caps get fucking spanked.
