    Between:

    * The Chychrun/Flyers rumor at the deadline

    * Briere’s preference to aggressively retool instead of rebuild

    * Jonesy’s admissions throughout the season that they made need to eventually trade for a 1D.

    * The Flyers history of targeting the sons of Flyers players/staff + general love of Flyers alumni

This has all the makings of the Flyers chasing after Chychrun this summer. I like the player, but it feels like the Flyers would be rushing after the first available defenseman that sort of fits. Maybe he can be stolen from Ottawa on the cheaper side.

He can come here and try to be better than his old man!

    because *family, man. family.*

Don’t touch Chychrun, elite offensively but is brutal in his own zone

No way Torts would like his playstyle at all

  4. ChiefBigCanoe

No thank you. Let someone else over pay and cry about it.

    He’s a terrific player…..

That’s got an injury history longer than Sami Salo.

I have pretty much zero faith in Danny or Keith Jones but I highly doubt they are dumb enough to trade for him

I really, *really* like the idea of a Chychrun-Drysdale pairing. The meat of Chychrun’s game is basically the exact opposite of Drysdale, I think they would compliment each other well and that he is young enough that they could grow together long term.

However, the acquisition cost + injury history, pending contract extension scares me

We don’t need another d man that can’t stay healthy

  9. EarthBelcher

The injury history makes me think we sign him and then he gets hurt almost immediately.

Don’t see how a move for Chychrun makes much sense for us, if that’s what this post is implying. He’ll be late 20s/early 30s by the time we’re actually competitive, probably taking up $8-10m of cap after re-signing, and who knows how many more serious injuries between now and then. Can’t blame him for not wanting to be in Ottawa but let another team make this mistake

  11. Steppyjim

Wouldn’t mind him but the cost will be astronomical and he’s too old for our current rebuild stage. Like the player hate the fit

Feel like he’s gonna be the “final piece” for a “contending” team due to his cap hit next year.

A team like Tampa that will spread his next cap hit over too many years like they have been doing.

nah, i’m cool. i’ve had enough of anxiety inducing, offensively minded defensemen. no mas.
