Tyler Johnson said he’s grateful for his time in Chicago, even though there wasn’t much winning the last few years.
As a pending unrestricted free agent, he hopes to sign with a contender: “I want to get back to playing meaningful hockey.” #Blackhawks pic.twitter.com/d9srt8CiiZ

Peace out, TJ!
No one signs him as a contender. Sorry TyJo
He did get dumped from the best team in the league to one of the worst and then spent almost half the last three years on IR, so I don’t blame the guy for not enjoying the experience, but it is funny to see someone be so open about not wanting to come back. Maybe Tampa will take him back if he’s willing to sign for cheap enough? Beyond that, I’m not really sure how many teams will be beating down his door.
I couldn’t remember what we got for taking on his salary, so I checked, and it turns out, we got a 2023 2nd rounder that we flipped to a 2024 2nd, meaning that he’ll be gone before we even make the pick. Hopefully it’s someone who has a slightly more memorable tenure with the team.
U could tell by his body language all year that he didn’t want to be here
seems like a long shot that he could be a 3rd or 4th liner on a contender unless he signs for like $1m
Why does every comment have to talk crap about the dudes performance and injuries like theyre the problem? The Hawks are a bottom feeding team with no culture of winning or even effort in the locker room. It shouldnt be surprised a player in their 30s has no interest in this mess.
Same, Tyler. Same.
32 goals in 149 games with us, 70 points. He wants to play « meaningful hockey » but he ain’t gonna be playing meaningful minutes with those stats. He’s gonna have to take a steep discount if he wants to play in the playoffs.
Thank god. Now I won’t mistake very talented, exciting, small 98 player for not as talented, not exciting small 90 player.
It was a problem all year, I’d think Bedard was on the ice and be excited just to have it crushed by seeing it was TyJo. Take Raddysh, Tinordi, Megna, Soderblom with you on the way out
5th I points on the team this year despite missing about as many games as Bedard. 6th the year before. Solid at both ends. I don’t think anyone was expecting him to come in and put up star numbers, rather be a 2nd or 3rd line center.
He did decent at that job. But we’ve also got a number of quality young forwards coming up that id personally rather get his minutes to develop. Granted that could make for another shit show season
Ehhh… if he is looking to be an important part of a contender, he might have to look at Europe. I don’t see many, if any, NHL contenders tripping over themselves to sign him.
Sounds like none of the vets are happy with how things went this year.
