Wow. Carolina people have no limit to how much they will whine about officiating. Do they even listen to themselves? Cringe.
Of the 16 playoff teams, Carolina had the worst record vs .500 or better opponents during the regular season. They were bottom feeders and they're getting exposed by a great team. Top of the league in shots, mid in shot %.
You can't expect to beat an all-world goalie with 50 shots from the perimeter and have a PP strategy that looks exactly like their 5v5 play. Rangers have depth down the middle and more highly skilled forwards up and down their line-up. They don't need a ton of chances to score and once they have a lead, they go into that 1-3-1 and keep everything to the outside (until the 6v5 chaos after the goalie is pulled).
With the way the lines are currently set up the Canes only have one dangerous offensive line!!! Necas is flying but he has nobody to help him. Drury and Martinook are not going to help a skilled player like Necas. By putting Jarvis with Staal and Turbo you take Jarvis out of the game! Jarvis is no longer dangerous! With that line you have taken away your best checking line that wears down the other team. Turbo on that line makes zero sence. You need Martinook with staal. Turbo would help Necas. And yes KK and Necas work great with each other. Drury is great defensivly and great with face offs but has almost no offensive punch. He is NOT a second line center!!!!! Kuzy and Necas with Jarvis would be a great second line as you have Jarvis who is a complete 200 ft player. Necas has really been good defensivly as well. Drury and Noesen are good together but why not Noesen Staal and Martinook for your checking line?

PP- Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. AKA Rod Brind'Amour. Why oh why do you insist on starting the PPP unit??? PPP- Powerless Passing Play! They pass the puck around that stupid umbrella with zero net front. As we have seen you need net front to score on Igor! The second unit gets more quality chances with the 15 seconds they get to work on the PP than the PPP unit!!!! If the Canes score 1 PPG a game you most likely would be leading this series.
PK. This is where you miss Fast and Pesce. For all of you down on Pesce THIS is why you need to find a way to extend him!
Officiating. You can not blame the officiating when you are not doing anything with the chances you are getting!
Toughness. The Canes have been showing more grit and have not backed down. This is something we haven't seen in years past. However, You pick up Lemieux for the playoffs because you got bullied by Fl. You extend him for next year but don't play him. Does that make sense?
It is NOT over untill you lose that fourth game! But you must make changes to the lines and how you manage the power plays.

Let’s be honest. You need another Guentzel. Of the 6 goals you scored in this series (not counting the two 6-5 late ones), Guentzel has 3 of them. All your guys are similar. You need balance and for all the crap everyone gave the Rangers for being power play merchants, they are capitalizing on opportunities.
Canes’ aggressiveness and volume of shots works against mediocre teams but against playoff teams with solid D and elite goalies, you will get stymied.

You guys need to get a system. Your PowerPlay is like a five on five set up. It’s basically useless. You need to change something. Also when you guys are so crazy on the forecheck, all we have to do is stay patient beat you once and we’re gonna move out with numbers, there is no set up on defense getting back
One more and we can make fun of you the entire postseason.
As a Ranger fan the Canes are the scariest opponent in the NHL. They are the most tenacious forechecking team without a doubt. Early on in the season we played them and we could not get out of the defensive zone. It was a back breaker and a tough condition to even get out of. While that style of play is tough it’s also dangerous, particularly against the Rangers. All it takes is an end to end dump and Kreider races down beating the icing call and it’s often in the back of the net. We may be up 3-0 but props to the Canes for playing so hard and fast. I love their coach as he calls it like he sees it. No sugar coating.
I don't know about the rest of the season, but as a casual hockey observer , I can say the rangers are just a better team. And when things are going your way you get the breaks too which they do.
Rangers fan here. The Canes are a great team and the series could/would be different if Fast and Pesce weren’t hurt. That’s the difference in the series to me. I see these four guys come up and I hear a lot of excuses about special teams and chances. The reality is the Rangers have the goaltending edge, some more dynamic wingers which creates better chances and Lavi has outcoached Brindamour thus far. That is what it appears to me anyway. Not sure why Rod gets a pass in this series or Florida last year.
Lots of good points here for the power play. Igor’s only uncontrolled rebound shot turned into a goal with 1:36 left. He was a sponge on every other shot or deflected shots to his teammates. One major issue that the Canes have is they just don’t have the depth. The Rangers have four lines that can hurt you. I don’t think any team currently playing has a first and second line like NY. There’s so much talent.
